Halo is the most overrated game ever and I want to know why
Ok, how do I begin... Before anything I have to clear that I don't finish it, I arrived at silent cartographer and finished the mission... I never in life give a "review" (This is a discussion not a review for a reason, continue read) a review before finish the game but... But this game is something I never seen in my life and it breaks me... I'm shocked, this is not a taste or subjective thing, this has clear problems too objective...

This game is incredibly monotonous... This game is all the same for 6 entire campaigns... But don't go away that is not the most serious problem... This game is a mindless shooter to begin ok... You can say what you want but this is just mindlessly shoot... The game change environment and whatever but the gameplay doesn't change... The gameplay is too simple and boring, the shooting feels horrible for me, the assault rifle has this big enormous target, scope whatever... The enemies are always the same and for me they don't say anything... They seems cheap, they are too much no one... In videogames the most important thing is the gameplay, but this is the only game I ever touched that have the story/plot the thing that Im more interested... The story is good I like it (obviously for a game, is not a cinema masterpiece) but the other things apart from are just... No, the scenography is good but for me the gameplay is too ridiculous... I don't find it fun, only boring and ALL THE SAME, from what ive seen, I can be wrong but this game have no puzzles, no platform, no anything, this game is just shoooooooooot... And the weapons for me don't communicate anything, but now I will say what really is the most big problem... You want to hear it? Now I will say it... Now I will go off topic for a bit, my favourite game ever is half life, and it gives me the most great experience of gaming when I first play it, but why... It was my first real game, no mobile or indie strange game, so I was a "noob" I take 30 hours to finish it, and I died a lot, but every time I died I learn something new, I achieve something new... It's fun, and the atmosphere get everytime more strong... But that is for any game by default, except this... Good atmosphere with lot of personality yes but when I die... Nothing, it's just boring and repetitive I somehow don't achieve nothing... And the game is too hard for the simplicity of the gameplay... And all the same etc...

How this game has so success, why is so popular... It's not a subjective thing this game is too much...

Don't accuse of clown farming, don't say that you don't read, answer me please... Why do you like it, why... Why?

(I don't want to get banned or anything, please this post is not toxic or offensive just a legit question)

and to think bungie removed a good dev to bring a valorant dev now they say they were going to do the new marahton an extraction shooter to now a hero shooter the old ones were the best at least they coming to steam

Thanks for the answer, I will probably try it, now I don't want this post to be a "what are underrated or more overrated games" I read now the community rules and I'm filled with anxiety

I see, thank you for your input.

I seriously don't know if you're playing on a difficulty that's too hard for you (since you say you keep dying) or if you're playing on Easy, since you say it's a mindless shooter. Either way, if you're already broken to this extent, you'd get disintegrated in The Library, so throw in the towel while you still can.

I knew this... I think reviewing before finishing is superficial and should not be do, but this game broke me, I think I'm playing on normal... Maybe I switched on easy at one point but I'm not sure, I think on normal... I died two times or one on the first mission but the second and their was just enemie spam, it's too hard for its limit... I'm probably gonna be destroyed if I not get banned early for just a... I'm sweating
It may just not be the game for you. If you're not having fun. Don't play and find something you like. It's not a contest. It's ok if you don't like Halo. Personally, I feel it resonates more with people who were there from the beginning. If you don't like it, it's ok.

The reason I made this post is because I can't imagine that answer... How can you enjoy a game that is all the same for hours and hours with a gameplay that is incredibly simple... To relax? Well is way too difficult for that so... Why, I just can't concept how to like it... It's meaningless but is so clear all this that I.. I... Its not that it's not my game personally, because it has some big problems that are not even subjective at this point, I want to know why people like it...

On easy and normal it should be fine to use any weapons, but let me give you some tips:

Magnum is great in Halo 1. Zoom in and go to town with the headshots. Headshots matter, by the way, so make sure to get them. Hunters (huge buys with metal shields and big boom weapon who can also melee with their spikes on their backs) in Halo 1 die from one magnum shot to the back, it's that good. You can dodge the hunter melee attack and get them in the back extremely easily in halo 1 if you learn the trick.

Energy pistol fully charged can instantly deplete the shields of any elite (the big guys who say wort wort wort) and the shot tracks them a little, even if they try to dodge (unless they get into cover). Energy pistol blast takes their shields down, then switch to magnum and finish them off. Human weapons are bad vs shields but great at killing them off. Energy weapons are great vs shields but bad at killing them off.

On higher difficulty settings, placing good grenades is important. You can always go about each engagement in multiple ways. Some people like killing the elites first. If I am already engaging the enemy I like killing the grunts first (the scaredy guys that run away) so that there's less projectiles flying my way. If they don't know about me yet, I stick a plasma grenade on the elites, since they're tougher to kill. You can kill a grunt with one headshot.

Jackals ("small" guys with round energy shields and usually plasma pistols) can be shot in the hand with the pistol, then they get stunned and open themselves up for a headshot. Two magnum rounds is all it takes to down one.

Shotgun is great against... Well... Let's not spoil things. You'll find out if you decide to play a little longer. It's also one of the big reasons people loved Halo 1 so much. Make sure you play with classic graphics for maximum immersion. Also, no headshots for them in this game, only in the sequels. Definitely a highlight of my childhood.

Know which enemies to prioritize. Stay in cover. Don't be afraid to hide while your shields recharge. The enemy AI is "smart" so it keeps track of your position where they last saw you and might even keep suppressing you by shooting, even if they don't see you anymore. That means, if you can move from that position without being spotted, you can flank them.

At low difficulties, you can clear out the game with most weapons. Plasma rifles are kinda bad, but it's possible. The needlers are fun: If you keep shooting the enemy, not only do the needles track them, but if enough needles hit the enemy, the enemy explodes (and damages other enemies around them)

You already finished Silent Cartographer, which means you're slowly getting the hang of it. There's always ways of doing things more efficiently, but you got so far. The game only gets more difficult though, so it's important to get the basics right. Remember: Energy weapons down shields, magnum is OP and headshots are important.

Bro as a veteran of halo let me just say the difficulty in halo is artificial the enemies hit harder and become spongy that's it it's the cheapest form of difficulty i played ost 3 on heroic and it was boring

I don't know how a 20 year old game (marathon) managed but it's more interesting than this it's same thing over and over with halo you can't deny it

How are they spongy? Energy pistol at max charge and then a headshot or two from the magnum is enough for most elite encounters. Even hunters can die easily with a simple dodge and magnum shot to the back. It's true that some engagements are tough, yes, but it's all manageable. Unless you're playing LASO.

Also, your comment makes no sense as a reply to my comment. Seems like you're trying to go on a tangent. You can always play on Easy. There's no shame in that.

I will at this point try all of that, maybe I will have fun... And I play with classic graphics, never played with new, and I know the "thing" The spoiler... Btw I was going to continue it anyway, I hate to keep games unfinished

They are many things wrong with your statement i will elaborate , first how are they spongy? the fact you need to hit them more so they die don't deny it please other games on hardest setting found clever way to make it hard without making it a bullet sponge, yes i know about energy pistol and magnum, But here is the thing magnum if you keep it and use it you will run out of ammo most of the time and it will take a while to find spot to recharge it

for the pistol ammo is more frequent but when you travel sometimes you don't got enough and if you only carry a magnum and eneregy pistol most of the time your magnum round will run out while eneregy pistol take time to load the charge and enemies in legendary don't mess around they attack from all sides so in theory what you are saying it's correct but if you actually try in game it's easier to type it

so legendary is basically like pulling teeth to hide as much as you can and recharge shield sure you can do it, but it will take time and not really fun

as for your ''you can always play on easy'' snide comment i played a lot of boomer shooters on hard difficulty with ease, look up artificial difficulty in video game if you want to be in denial it's not a fun concept there is no new or challenging way just a slow and painful way to advance

Fair enough about your comments about Legendary. Playing on easy is not a snide comment. I usually play on Heroic (no shame in that either) because Legendary can get a bit tedious (without doing the obvious skips) - although Legendary Halo 2 is a pretty fun challenge (if you know enemy placements)

Also, I am very much aware of artificial difficulty. If you're a software engineer, you certainly also know that sometimes there's no better way without investing significant time and resources (if it's even possible due to technical debt), which developers often don't have. Just look at what they planned for Halo 2 and how much they had to cut in order to meet deadlines. Not really an excuse, since we as consumers don't have to care about developers' struggles and we only care about the product, but those of us who are in the know can rationalize certain tough decisions they had to take.

Since you like boomer shooters, I can recommend Blood on Extra Crispy for a... beautiful experience. And DUSK, if you've never played it. Very fun game.

I'm not even the biggest Halo fan (H3, which is most people's favourite, I don't enjoy it much unless I play with mods) and I find the statement blown out of proportion.
The reason I enjoy most campaigns in Halo, especially Reach, is because they're designed to be approached differently in each playthrough.

Yes... you... will...
Especially when you have a giant wall of text full of ellipses... that looks silly... and serves no purpose...

Also tl;dr, I'll only answer the title. The game is good, it probably just isn't for you and you may have gone into the game with the wrong mindset, expecting too much and not getting it coloring your opinion more negatively than if you had no expectations.
