Buy Halo 2 on it's own?
Do I need to buy the entire collection? Can I just buy Halo 2?

All the games are active, some more than others.

In my experience I found that the most active to least active game for online (eastern Canada) are Halo Reach > Halo 3 > Halo CE > Halo 4 > Halo 2 Anniversary > ODST > Halo 2 Classic.

Yeah, but if you decide to play multiplayer, you potentially have a longer wait time, its better to purchase the MCC entirely.

Imo, if you are going to buy any of them, if you want to buy at least 2 of the Halos buy the entire MCC instead as a bundle for a discount.
