Reboot is necessary

Best move 343 can make at this point. It’s literally the only chance 343 has at making Halo great again.

They’ve absolutely destroyed the story in the main continuity. Cortana is dead but not dead the story just became so forced and stupid from halo 4 onward.

This is 343s chance to bring us a true Halo game with with the proper vibe. We get to redo the original story with more detail and we can just forget about the childish mess that the past 3 games have turned halo into.

Infinite gameplay was ok but the campaign was hollow and lacked confident direction. Every indoor level looked the same it was just very uninspired.

As long as they don't integrate references from the Halo TV show into the game's cannon, there's a chance for the reboot to be good.

That's awful. The Forerunners were interesting in the original lore because they were mysterious and mythical. Once you give them names and personality, there's no point, they're just another ancient civilization.
Also, Humans ARE Forerunners, 343 retconning them into a separate species is stupid because the entire point of the Halo story is about Humanity reclaiming their lost heritage and the horror of the Covenant unwittingly genociding the very gods they worship.

But ultimately any Halo reboot needs to be done by any other company than 343. They've more than proven they are not capable, both from story and gameplay perspectives.

Can you cite the interviews because the only interviews I have seen with Joe Staten remotely talking about this have been vague, where the book he wrote (Contact Harvest) outright has humans as Forerunner, and the games I played have 343 Guilty Spark directly call Chief a Forerunner.

I'll believe good ol' Marty and the established lore in the Bungie books and games over that. Weren't the Halo 3 terminals written by that Frank guy over at 343? Nah.
Guilty Spark calls humans Forerunners, Mendicant Bias calls Humans Forerunners, even Truth thinks Humans are Forerunners. There were cut plans for the Arbiter to find a human skeleton in a Forerunner crypt apparently too. All the themes of Halo point to Humans being Forerunners and it fits the best and feels right.
