Challenges not unlocking? what am i doing wrong?

Basically, Im doing challenges, mainly pve challenges, and i have run into 2 that won't unlock no matter what i try

Challenge 1 : Battle hardened
Complete campaign missions on legendary difficulty

I've tried this, did halo reach on the mission "noble actual" on the legendary difficulty but it did not register

Similarly, the challenge "playlist progression" which says "Complete a mission in a campaign playlist on normal difficulty or higher". I've tried this on halo reach with both normal, heroic and legendary which did nothing, i tried halo 4 with normal difficulty and it yielded the same result

what am i doing wrong? or is it some glitch?

If you have a non-scoring skull on then the mission won't count as completed, so make sure you don't have one of those god-mode skulls enabled.

Cutscene and tutorial/trivial missions are exempt from challenges.
"Change of Scenery", "Playlist Progression", and "Battle Hardened" among other campaign completion PvE challenges won't count chapters like Halo: Reach's Noble Actual, Epilogue, and Lone Wolf. This also applies to Halo 4's Prologue chapter.

You'll have to beat a regular campaign chapter on Legendary, preferably without non-scoring skulls like countgrey said before. Good luck to you, Spartian.

don't have any skulls at all when doing said missions

so if i understand it correctly, i can try any other mission on halo reach besides the ones you mentioned?

also which halo mission would be the best for the legendary one? im not the best when it comes to legendary?

If you're strictly playing Halo: Reach, Winter Contingency is by far the easiest mission to complete solo if you 'noob combo' through the Elites (Plasma Pistol and a precision weapon like the Magnum/DMR/Needle Rifle to headshot).

thx, im not strictly going for going for halo reach mostly in general which mission would be the easiest
