bullets = good vs. flesh
learn how to play and don't be bad xD
Halo 2 legendary you just got to pray to RNGesus that when you poke your head out you don't get instagibbed by a random sniper jackal. Or like you said the stupidly spongey brutes, which aren't terrible, but they do take a long time to put down even if you are using a projectile based weapon. Again hard, brutal, but even if you do know what you're doing within the sandbox you will still be pumping lead and dodging for a while with almost every encounter you don't try and skip.
I personally like playing halo on Heroic with skulls, usual setup is, Catch, Famine, Reccession, Tough Luck/Thats so... wrong, boom, birthday party, Sputnick and sometimes add in Mythic/Thunderstorm if you want. Adds in a lot of difficulty in that every shot you make matters a lot, since you effectively have only 1/4 the ammo you normally have, reloading twice as often. Catch, boom and sputnick add in a lot of danger from enemy grenades, your mileage may vary in whether this makes it easier or harder, with the AI being more predictable with nades. Thats so... Wrong makes it harder for you to abuse nades against them. Overall I found it made a nice balance of difficulty, where enemies can't 1 shot you, or absorb a lot of bullets, but they are also much more dangerous and ammo is constantly an issue, where you have to keep deciding to keep a powerful weapon, or toss it aside for something with just more bullets.
I'm replaying halo 2 on legendary and I will repeat, it is simply ♥♥♥♥♥♥.I'm on Earth right now so early on in the game, at the point where I'm about to get the new type of warthog (with the pulse cannon, for lack of the real name of it), and frankly wtf. I am actually running out of sniper ammo. By the time I get to the warthog I expect it will be fully destroyed / have no-one to man the gun.
I will say at least the new graphics make the game atmosphere not dull and boring. I'm sure in places they went for spooky but it just didn't work.
And I know that the story people didn't talk closely with the artists, or game engine designers etc. etc.
But my god did I find the arbitor story line yawnable in the original. Why would I care about this character at all? Every time I died as the arbitor I smiled thinking "one less of this sort of person in the universe" right up until I respawned.

Yer not the only one feels the pain, hur hur. Even Guiness world record players complain about that.
I'm just saying Halo sold in the earlier days because, even though Legendary was ridiculous, somehow it was rewarding and entertaining to those who got through. But yeah, agree that today's standards demand something better. 343 is slow on that, or maybe some boomers who got rich funding the old Halo just don't wanna leave their used-to-be golden egg duck.
That warthog part, they'll respawn infinitely (yes, Bungie messed up, and 343 doesn't patch that up (dum dum 343)). You need to clean the snipers running up the top plate area ~> jump down to the ground floor ~> clean the 2nd wave again ~> get to the next area for a checkpoint ~> they stop respawning ~> proceed. Yes, it's buggy that way. Just like Chief's "very resilient" armor =))). Damn I'm crying.
I love the Arbiter tho, he's cute.

Idk, tagging worked for me. As for them taking cover, it's pretty easy to counter. Cover is easily identifiable in each arena and human grenades suck like a bucket of ticks, so throw a grenade behind their cover. Either they jump out, giving you a perfect moment to snipe them; or they get thrown out by the explosion, giving you a similar opportunity.
Problem with that is they're not usually on their own, so if I chase after them then the others kill me.
If you haven't come across that issue it's very easy to replicate, find the silver elites on legendary, and tag them. They'll survive. Just like if all you do is shoot them with a sniper, you'll need to make sure it's headshots (at least for the final one).
I mean I already cleared Legendary. I'm not saying they're free kills but ye ol' charged Plasma Pistol with BR/Carbine never let me down. I regularly got shields down and the followup. If it helps, when the shield goes down they have a full second of stun which is more than enough time to switch to your other weapon and get a headshot (at least it was for me).
Haven’t had many carbines till now, on first arbitor mission, have snagged a carbine but my experience of plasma pistol overload discharges is one of being slow and inaccurate in halo2.
Nah, narrowing players' options into sneaky sniper only ain't a good idea. Halo 5 amplified that idea and get bashed. Time for enterpreneurs to patch their mindsets.
