From what I heard this is actually harder with extra players since the game spawns more enemies if you're in co-op.

I've done it and it's really easy. Play on Easy, activate all skulls except Blind and kill Elites. Make sure to grab an Energy Sword, and make sure to keep a lookout for new ones when it runs out. Took me about an hour and 711 elites killed to get it

I have no idea what they were thinking. Apparently in MCC you get 10x less points so it's extremely difficult compared to the original game.

10 minutes in easy all skulls (minus blind) and I barely got 5k points. ♥♥♥♥ this.

Ive tried that, even on solo with all skulls on minus blind i get ganked by Elites and becomes so hard

Do it solo, it's easier since less enemies, easy difficulty, all skulls on except blind and catch, competitive scoring to see your score in real time, avoid energy sword since tilt will prevent you from instakilling elites even from behind.
If you get swarmed just keep meleeing to recharge shield.

Use magnum or plasma pistol for better melee animation, grab the bubble shield to heal when wounded after getting badly swarmed, but stay in the starting room with the lock armor, there you will be charged by max 5 elites, which you can kill by letting one melee you and going around them anticlockwise and melee them from behind.
Took me 50 min to do this, first try, just like 360's Reach except for the time.

A challenge for your hand and wrist, but doable, good luck.

It's pretty easy when you have a group of 4 that know how to do it and it takes about an hour if not more to do. I'd say i would help, but I never want to do it again. It was extremely boring.
