I have never used that app. I uninstalled most bloatware from my PC when I bought it. Give me a moment to ask my husband if he knows our NAT type.
He says it's set to Strict.
I don't recall the exact details but I found people with the same problem as you when I was searching for solutions to another Connection Interrupted issue that I have, but I think the solution was either to set the NAT type to Open or use a VPN.
To set NAT type to Open, follow this guide[beta.support.xbox.com]. Part 5 of this guide (port forwarding) is what did it for me.
If you're still having issues after that, then perhaps one of you should use a VPN to mask one of your computer's network so the game won't think you're both on the same network. I'm not sure if this works though as I couldn't find the post that mentioned using this to fix their same network issue.
Part 5 is mostly app port forwarding. Correct? If so then I know how to do that. Husband doesn't.

Ultimately, it's a game issue, but thankfully Steam provides a workaround on their layer.
