Fatal Error Fix (Windows 10)
So i had trouble with many EU4 fatal error, low level fatal error, loadlibrary failed with error 1455, and d3d device being lost.

I'll put some basics thngs you could do first and then what i had to do down the bottom.

Basics - Make sure your pc meets the recommended requirements, update gpu drivers, windows, and verify game files. (this did nothing for me but might help you)

You could also be having problems with the Anti cheat so search it in file explorer "C:\Program Files (x86)\EasyAntiCheat" run the program, search halo mcc and click repair.

i assume you've already done these and you're still having problems so try what i did to fix the problem. (virtual memory optimization)

Right click "This PC" and select properties, select advanced settings, advanced tab, then performance "Settings", advanced tab again, virtual memory "Change", uncheck "Automatically manage...", select your main harddrive, check custome size, "Initial size = {1024 x (how many GB of ram you have, for me it is 8)}", "Maximum size = {(Initial size value) x 2}", then click apply, OK out of everything and restart your pc.

This is what i did and seemed to fix everything for me and even other games i had issues with like pubg, sim city, rust, and r6s.

Intel core i5-4460 @3.2GHz
RAM 8.00 GB (ddr3)
64-bit OS Windows 10
AMD Radeon R9 380 (2GB)

let me know if this worked! :D & comment so others can find this post!

If problems persist i feel for you bro, reinstall the game and/or contact Microsoft.

-EDIT-

I've found out that some people can play it in offline mode but not online, this is most likely mircosoft firewall blocking some game files or your antivirus protection. Through windows settings you can allow game files through and disable third party antivirus on applications. There are many tutorials on how to do this on youtube.

For windows 7 users there is an optional update (KB something idk) that can fix fatal error issue as i have discovered on other threads. a quick google and you should be able to find it all.

when you say, 1024 x, does the "x" mean multiplied, or storage by (x) storage?

I set mine to system managed from none. So far, it's working alright. Will let you know if I crash again.

Update: Still crashing. Generally, I seem to be able to play longer, but when I would previously have crashed, I just get extended stuttering. After some instances of that, I get the same crash as before.

I'd like to add that there is more to it than just "2 x your amount of ram". :)

In fact, I'd recommend not to fuzz with the page file stuff at all since if you set it to a size to something too small, you'll have a veeery sad computer if the limit is reached.

-Windows is better at managing the size than one would think.
repeat: Windows is better at managing the size than one would think!

Anyhow. If you really, REALLY, want to mess with that stuff. Never set the upper limit to something less than 8192 (8 gigs), unless you have a LOT of RAM.

As a matter of fact, if you have ~4 gigs or less, you'd want the upper limit to be higher.
Something like 16384 (16 gigs) ought to be enough.

This is highly dependant on what you actually do with your machine but if you know it's kinda low on ram, you really want to make sure it has more than enough paging storage to cope with it :)

Update: I reversed the suggested change. Since then, Microsoft pushed a Win10 update. I tried it out and Halo hasn't crashed yet in ~10 hours of play. Promising.

As an aside, I had been using Gigabyte Smart Manager to tweak my laptop. Normally, I switch it to "power mode" and bump up my fan speed for better performance while playing games. I noticed that I forgot to do that while playing Halo last time (when it didn't crash). Maybe that's related—I have seen some posts mention that overclocking is a possible cause.

Now if I could fix this frame stuttering and the terrible audio, everything would be perfect. :D

YOU'RE A STAR!

I had the fatal error and tried a few things but nothing helped. I checked my virtual memory settings and realised I'd disabled virtual memory a few weeks ago before backing up my SSD and forgot to enable it afterwards. Whoops!

It's working fine, now. I did get a low level error message when I switched to windowed mode so I might still get the error but I just finished the final stage of Halo and am about to start Halo 2.
