How come 15 years ago we could do 64v64 Halo 1 multiplayer battles on massive custom maps
but now in 2023 we cannot.

I looked up ALL the halo gameplay videos pre 2006 on youtube, there are not that many, NONE of them are full multiplayer matches, none of them show the lobby, the few gameplay montages never open the scoreboard. most of them are not even on custom edition. yea people barely recorded in 2006 and you saying I'm wrong on this just shows you don't know how to use the youtube search bar and it's various parameters such as before:

Feel free to tell me how to search by Year, because NO option exists in the youtube search bar

Let me remind you, that you implied no one recorded GAME FOOTAGE back in 06, so you're not just talking Halo

Lol I already did in that post but you have no clue how to use the search bar in Youtube clearly.

Here is one more time for the person who can't google or figure out things themselves.

(search term) before:(YYYY-MM-DD)

Game footage pre 2006 exists but it's all like 5 minutes long. People did not livestream for hours at a time like they do today. It's a bunch of tutorials and montages but you clearly were not playing video games back in 2006 or you would know this.

This has nothing to do with people not uploading videos, it's to do with you misremembering, because none of this ever happened.

Did you play Halo custom edition in 2005 - 2006?

I also remember that when you would press tab to see the score board, there would be so many names that they wouldn't all fit and you would see 1 team and the top few players of the other team. Who knows maybe I dreamt this up but again do any of you people telling me I am wrong ever play Halo Custom edition in 2005~ or are you all talking out of thin air?

I remember the overfilled score board too. Everyone here is out to get you for some reason.

I played Custom Edition quite a lot at the time. There was a huge amount of effort people put in to make larger player counts. It didn't work.

People made MASSIVE maps and there was a lot of effort to try to populate them with more players. There was one map in particular I remember, called "HUGE A$$". It was exactly as it's name implies. More of a walking sim that anything. Memories.
I remember this being "fixed" by adding bot players to the maps which would be added to each team and fill up the maps, there was a massive desert map which had this^ with 64 spartan bots which were set up well enough to be comparable to halo 1 newbies and then you would have the actual players ontop of that. It was quite fun even if you turned it into a single player match, there was another one which was essentially blood gulch but with a forest setting which was so large it took nearly 4 minutes to cross from one side to the other with a banshee (spawn to spawn, there was actually even more map to explore beyond the spawns), that map had I believe 64 spartans vs 64 elites (One player team of spartans would be playing with the covenant, so basically traitors vs loyalists) plus basic enemy AI (marines, grunts, etc) in little mock battles which would constantly respawn to make it look like there was a battle raging across the entire map, it would take nearly an hour to make it from one side to the other and wipe out the enemy team.

I wouldn't be surprised if OP was on a map with 16 bots added to each team on blood gulch (I even have a custom map on my old laptop which added 16 blue and 16 red spartans to blood gultch which you could then play with more real players).

I guess this is what I remember then, it was a long time ago and I was a kid.
