In every other possible way, MCC is better. Now that the dust has had time to settle I think the steam player population alone is telling. It is older than Infinite, it's multiplayer is not free-to-play like Infinite, and it is playable on exactly the same list of platforms as Infinite. Despite those factors we are now at a point where MCCs daily population lows are a significant fraction greater than Infinite's daily highs. It can only be explained by greater value.
- nostalgia and actual fun
Halo Infinite
- If you want to be an MLG tryguard
AND, multiplayer maps, modes, and extra features.
A. It has Halo 2, 3, and Reach. Three of the most highly rated casual AND competitive shooters of all time.
B. It contains all Halo Campaigns outside of Halo 5, I won't even acknowledge Infinite's campaign as a video game.
C. Halo Infinite does have an excellent Forge mode. And that's it. Other than that, 343 managed to do the impossible and make a Halo game that has nothing to do with Halo. It's bad for competitive due to terrible, unbalanced map design and horrendous server netcode. It's also bad for casual gaming for mostly the same reason, but add in 343's completely mindblowingly slow support for the game and still no community made maps being added to playlists (there are remakes of every Halo map, but they've added none of them in).
D. You'll likely never find a multiplayer game with as much total content as MCC. Whether you want to play competitive or casual, you'll find that it will take you a very long time to experience everything the game has to offer.
MCC does have its own issues, it can sometimes have issues with installations, though I think the Steam version is quite stable nowadays. I've mostly played it on Xbox myself.
