Halo MCC newest patch keeps updating/re installing/validating

Hey all,

I Noticed that halo MCC had an update but i noticed when I download it it keeps restarting and validating and patching...

Is the update out yet or was it to early?

For some odd reason the game wont patch. I havnt had this issue before as I just patched Battlefield before this one and it was fine...

Anyone else having this issue?

I notice that steam has all kinds of troubles even starting updates for this game, I know it's a big update, but I have seen other games update way smoother/faster, destiny 2's massive updates for example. I notice that it likes to drop down to 0bps on internet and just refuse to download, have to restart the steam client for it to continue.
Btw this update was released on dec 8. There is no game update being to early, once it's sent to steam servers to be available, that is that.

HDD or SSD?

I had the game on a HDD at first but got fed up with how long it takes for the game to update on it. Downloading the data was quick but updating and validating the data took forever. Like an hour or more.

Once I installed it on a SSD, downloading, updating and validating has been super quick.

Odd I tried clearing the download catch and it’s still downing it…whats funny is battlefield download it’s large patch within SECONDS…and halo has been repeating its patch for the last 30-45 mins..

Are you having issues with this update at all?

Ssd, there was a battlefield update prior to this that had no issues patching and installing..did it within a few mins…all of a sudden halo keeps patching, updating and validating and then restarts

Already have the game updated and everything, I just let it sit while binging YouTube videos for a while. Not exactly sure how long it may have taken. As of the games functionality after the update, it's been stable at least for me. A lot of people on this forum have complained of crashes and such after the update though.

The downloading issues with steam is what about everyone experienced. The pausing, validating, etc.

what do we do to fix it?

if i let it run it just does it on repeat (i canceled the patch download and it STILL says its pause)

Not sure how to get it to finish or if it will do so at all

Let it sit overnight, mine eventually finished while I was just watching random videos, so it does complete.

Even after letting it sit for an entire night? Sheesh. I would try to right click the game and uninstall it, and then try to reinstall it. That away it skips the update entirely and just installs the game. As it'll install the latest possible version which would be the recent update.

didnt let it sit the whole night wasnt going to keep my comp on for that long, but i was on the other night and today and its till patching and validating again

Update: I ended up un intstalling and reinstalling the game and its fine now lol

Reinstall the game and that should fix it.

It's worth noting this is not something special to MCC. I've seen it happen to many other titles. Something screwy is happening on Steam's end.
