How much of a Remaster are these games?
In actual honestly I couldn't care less about graphics in a game but it's still interesting to me. I had the anniversary edition of Halo Combat Evolved so when this Master Chief Collection comes out will Halo Combat Evolved be essentially just the anniversary edition or is it an even newer Remaster since Anniversary was for the 360 and Master Chief Collection was for XBONE

Halo CE & Halo 2 both have full remasters. Halo 3 has improved lighting and resolution. ODST, 4 & Reach will have higher resolution also.

I'm actually interested to see how Halo 4 looks on PC. That game is a powerhouse 360 game, and i bet at 1080p+ and 60fps, max settings, i bet it looks like a current gen game on PC.

Looks great on Xbone. Looks like it was always meant for this generation.

Halo 3 doesn't have improved lighting, it has "different" lighting.

You can download Halo 5: Forge on the Microsoft Store. This will give you an idea of what vehicles, players, weapons, etc. *could* look like.

I wouldn't be surprised if 343 built a new engine for the PC Halo series to take advantage of things that a console can't while maintaining compatibility to xbox assets. so the assets are ported along and improvements are made to include a far bigger scope of all the games in capability, draw distance, graphical rudeness and so on. the sort of stuff a console can't get close to.

The PC can easily run around the XB1 in capability according to wikipedia on the consoles limitations, most significantly that dreadful 5400RPM mechanical HDD the console has.

if they have built a new engine to take advantage of what the PC has, they could run their entire series along it and remaster the whole thing, even their most recent Halo 5 if they wanted to.

Halo 1 and Halo 2 are remakes, the rest are enhanced ports.

Well watching a video at the moment they are saying that they want these games to be more than a port and really make them worth while on a PC but who knows it could all just be marketing gimmicks.

Not remakes, remasters. There’s a huge difference.

They completely redid the graphics.

Yeah so a Remaster. that's what a remaster is, a graphical and / or sound improvement generally for a later generation.

A remake is a retelling, created in an upgraded and better game engine than its source material. Most of the old assets are not used in remaking a game. A remaster is usually just upgraded visuals, a remake is built from the ground up.

Yep, that’s a remaster. A remake is when the game is completely remade from the ground up. See the recent Resident Evil 2 Remake.
