Terrible network lag, even on LAN, even for the host ???
My brother and I are in the same room trying to play the ODST campaign in coop, and we had to give up because both of us were experiencing so much network lag, often only getting about 3 "FPS" of input response and enemy behaviour updates on our screens. What the heck is going on? Shouldn't at least the host have smooth gameplay?

I have heard that some of the issues people have are tied to frames per second not being the same between players. Try capping the frame rate at the same number between the two of you, if you have not already.

I think I remember when Halo 3 First came to MCC on PC, me and my family must have crashed over 20 times, before we just decided to take a shot in the dark and just mirror each others video settings. I can't remember if the delay was any better or not, but I do remember it making it not crash, and actually playable

MCC's co-op is completely busted. You can try setting both your framerates to be the same, but there's not much else you can do to improve network quality.

Best I have found to increase stability is using Hamachi (there's guides around online if you're interested). Hamachi mostly works by connecting two computers like they are connected with LAN even though they aren't. It isn't an ideal solution (ideal would be hte problem getting fixed), but at least it works.

However, in this case, you could likely get away with just straight up using LAN instead of xbox servers (assuming you aren't already).

Could you send a link to one? Me and a friend have tried this but not managed to pull it off successfully

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1930424004 This is the one me and my friend used. Some of it was a bit overkill (for instance, you can leave on the anti-cheat and not bother changing the network settings it suggests, though if you still have trouble it might make it run a bit smoother), but it probably saved us vast amounts of trouble in H3, and completely solved the problems we had in h2
