First they'd need to fix the crashes in CE and H2A with Co-op, and we can't even get them to do that.
I doubt it too. Too bad that it's so low on priority...everything seems to be low priority :/
Nucleus is a viable Option for the time beeing, but man...setting it up is a chore.
Was seriously considering to buy a series x just to play with my son....and just for Halo.
??
Reading is good.
Lol that's funny, you can do splitscreen on Xbox for years and even on the Xbox One you can still use it UNDER ONE ACCOUNT.
For me...every decision made so far was always the worst possible one :/
Oh and i should have elaborated, why i didn't want to use Nucleus - once you installed that you can't start a normal game anymore. And since there is no simple uninstall button you have to manually delete the files....and when a friend comes over you have to.....you get my point. It's not comfortable at all. Not like an ingame solution would be.
Resident Evil 5 received a patch last month and they fixed local coop with even better splitscreen than the console version(full screen and those weird half quarter windows). But Halo? A Megacompany like MS and a studio like 343i can't do that.
they had the wrong idea that more individuals with copies of their games equal more profit.
where as in the old days friends of friends played halo in splitscreen and thought it was so cool they went out and purchased their own console and copy of the game. win win for ms...they got new players because of splitscreen. it was a couch, chair, bed, floor friendly experience.
h4 wasn't a flop, it had splitscreen, however spartan ops (firefight) was online only which was the first sign of them making bad decisions.
with halo 5 you needed to play online in co-op because ms thought no one wanted splitscreen anymore...yet all the forums posts complaining about it's absence said otherwise.
h5 was a flop because of the lack of splitscreen, online only forge and firefight, not because of the plot. (which is what many want you to believe)
then they did the same with infinite, with a twist, announcing splitcreen was coming to the new game, stringing people along to maximise sales and then saying f you, you can't have it as we can't be bothered. it's working but we can't be ar*ed to finish it as we want to focus on the live service crap.
but hey we got local lan co-op and offline bots on all mp maps and modes at launch, woooo.......yeah about that...f you again.
yeah they broke that several updates ago.
live service.
yep that's why halo infinite flopped too. stupid live service bs, no splitscreen on console or pc, broken features, online only forge and firefight, crap cosmetics, massive layoffs and no more seasons.
but at it's core it's an okish game but could be so much better if it didn't have all the online only bs and broken features.
i hope the next game has none of this bs. as all it does is piss people off.
anyone like others have said if you want to play splitscreen on pc, use alpha ring off github. (native splitscreen, basically unlocks the existing disabled code that the devs left in)
sadly no splitscreen tools yet for infinite.
So much for "too hard to implement"....this code is based on what 343 removed...shameful of Microsoft and 343i as always.
