Why would anyone want split screen! It's 2019, Jesus!
Couch coop or local play has been in gaming for generations.
Regardless of platform it's been in gaming for years upon years. Even on steam you can search (local or splitscreen play) and it will literally show you all the games that have it.
Jesus you people are the reason why it went on hiatus in recent years.
The rest of us have actual family and friends that would love to play together.
Anyways 343i have already said in a stream they are thinking about it for sure and it may come later as a update. They know it's a staple in the Halo franchise.
So do us all a favor and STFU with your anti local coop bs
"Why do you need split screen on PC? Who's going to sit around your computer monitor and play games when you can play online?" Firstly, PC connects to a TV or projector just like a console, for the people out there that didn't know that. Secondly, for anyone who grew up having Halo LAN parties or playing Halo with their siblings or girl/boyfriend, will all tell you first hand that that's the best way to experience the game.
PC is better suited for split screen than any other platform. #1 It's more powerful and can handle more demanding games with better graphics and higher frame rates. 343 made a statement that they could not add split screen to Halo 5 because they would have to sacrifice graphics and frame rates because it would be too demanding. #2 You can use any controller on the market. No matter your gaming background, you're always comfortable playing games with a friend on PC. Just don't forget your favorite controller at home!
"Play it on Xbox or don't buy it then, geez!" This game is not worth $460 plus tax to buy the Xbox and the game. It's not worth $40 without split screen on PC. So no, I won't be buying it until it gets split screen. There are honestly hundreds of shooters on PC to compete with that don't have split screen. What makes it better then Overwatch, Destiny 2, MWF, Half-Life, Quake, Counter Strike, or Farcry? Come on 343, give the game a selling point!
I'm not really a fan of Halo, but it sure was dang fun back in the day when we could split screen on the couch. Not everyone plays PC games on a 4KTV, I get it. But the missus n' I sure prefer it.
Meanwhile, old Serious Sam titles be like...
Yeah. I agree. Having more than one input device plugged in, or using a really big monitor or TV screen as a monitor. That can never happen. Having the bros over for drinks and Big Team CTF, that can never happen.
Besides, how do spilt screeners share a keyboard?
Another curious question. How many that use split screen have ever glanced at the other player's screens to get a glimpse of areas that aren't shown on your screen?
Seeing what the other guy sees is pretty nice if you're couch co-oping.
OMG I think I broke my nose I face palmed so hard..
I agree 100% with Clinton Mobley and the rest, it's like kids these days can't wrap their head around connecting two controllers and playing with someone next to them. For old dudes like me that remember the Nintendo 64 with 4 controllers those where some of the best times in gaming history. Mario Kart, Golden Eye, Smash, Duke Nukem 64 but most kids playing today don't know of those times.
Game companies convinced everyone that you NEED internet and that split screen is obsolete because now they can sell you Microtransactions, broken games that they can patch later, etc. EA tried to get rid of Single player and so is Bethesda the old champion of Single player now pushing garbage like FO76. It's sad I can see that in 10 more years single player games could be viewed as obsolete.
Same situation with L4D2, and that could even be done with just console commands. Heck, even in L4D2 I noticed the "Remote play together" Feature was an option, though I haven't tried it yet.
