Do I really need to sign in to play ?

Loading up the game launches a microsoft sign in window, do I really need to sign in to play this or is there a way I can bypass skip it, if I can't bypass it I'm just going to refund.

You can start steam in offline mode then play. Try restarting your comp then sign in on steam in offline mode or disconnect from the internet and start steam in offline mode then play halo mcc.

Thanks for the suggestions, I just tried all those and no luck.

The only way to play is to sign into/create a microsoft account. Multiplayer is free on PC and and even creating a microsoft account is nothing so there is no real reason to not sign into it. You could always create a throwaway just for MCC if you're not wanting to use your main.

If you're running Windows 10 or 11, you already had to do this just to log into Windows, so I don't see what the issue is with having to log in again to play a game. Pretty sure there was an option to link it to Steam too, so that it uses your Steam login instead of your Windows one.

Yes you have to log in. This was clearly stated on the Store Page before you bought the game.

When I signed into my account when I got the PC version there was no option for signing in with steam. I don't mind personally because achievements I get in this game count towards Microsoft Reward points L0l.
