However, there is a mod to allow for local split screen co-op, but it requires you to basically run the game twice, so don't attempt this if your PC can't handle the load.
If you're referring to Multiplayer co-op, then you can indeed play with 4 (or more) of your friends in the same group for all of the games. However, like with Campaign, split screen is not an option, so everyone must be using their own device and their own copy of the game. Unlike Campaign however, crossplay Multiplayer co-op does work.

Note that "following" =/= "friend".
When playing with someone else in campaign online you need to have low latency in order for the off-host players to have low input delay.
Thanks for the detailed answer! Sad though, that i can't just randomly join anyone :/. I don't want to do the campaign alone. So, i might find someone to do so together :)
