Eh. Tech failure rates are around 5% or so for new GPUs, and it's not outside the realm of possibility that you hit that 5% twice in a row; unlikely, but not impossible.
I just said, that MCC definitely triggers the behavior of the gpu, to damage itself. Not that its the Games fault. I think its a Problem with the Hardware itself, but something in MCC and i am sure some other games have the portential, to kill these gpus from evga or gigabyte.
Not the Games fault in the first place, but there is something that triggers it. Thats all i wanted to say. If you have a 3000 Series gpu that doesnt have this Hardware issue, you are good to go.
But as i just lost 2 Gigabyte Vision OC 3090s through this Problem, i want to reach out to people, who have the same gpu.
PSU or something other related to my hardware i can deny, because the gpu worked perfect for other Games with much more demanding of Ressources.
to be factory design defects you just happen to buy the card/maker
that had them.got a Zotac 3080 runs MCC fine.
Seen this issue crop up alot when the card was brand new.
pro tip: never buy the first round of tech it will always have flaws.
In the moment it happened, I was playing a game of Reach Invasion. Can't remember which side I was on, but it happened on Breakpoint during phase 2. I was in the center of the map (between the pipe and the "platform") looking toward the bridge as the bomb went off.
Just as the bomb explodes, my whole PC goes dark with an audible "bang."
Then I saw the plume of gray-blue smoke rise up from behind the monitors.
Though I don't "blame" Halo for killing it. It was an old and heavily worked card. Installed in a system that's powered on 24/7, heavily overclocked, and it saw a *lot* of Folding@Home and mining. If you Google images of the card disassembled, one of the 3 chokes near the PCIE power connectors was cracked in half, and that's where the smoke came from.
