This is the one that worked for me:
You need both, one is the Game and the other is the Halo CE Content. When both are downloaded put the "halo1" folder from depot 97633 into the empty "halo1" folder that comes with depot 976731.
Right click Halo:MCC in Steam and select Manage > Browse Local Files. Delete all the current game files (or move them elsewhere as a backup) and replace them with the files you just downloaded.
You know you've done it properly when the game launches normally but you have a different background design in the menu. With this version of the game the achievement will unlock normally with no problems.
"I was able to unlock this achievement today. It must be something with the last update that's preventing this from popping. If you own the disk, then you can delete your local save data, uninstall, then reinstall with your Xbox in offline mode. After installed, it will tell you that you have to go online to finish installation. Go online and try to enter the game. It will tell you that the game needs an update. Hit CANCEL. No go back offline and the game should start up for you now. Version 1.0.4 I think. I fulfilled the requirements for the achievement and then finished the level. At the beginning of the next mission, I hit "Save and Quit" Exit the game, and go back online with your console. Now you can do the update. Sometime during or after the update, I came back out to see that the achievement had unlocked for me. Hope this works for out for everyone else!"
thank you!!! took me 2hrs or so to get method 1 to work, but it did!
tips for anyone that's gonna try this:
- delete everything in your halo:mcc folder before you move the files from the depot folder. i kept getting easy anti-cheat errors until i deleted everything
- before starting the game, disconnect from the internet (not offline mode on steam, just disconnect from internet), and then reconnect when in-level. i kept getting crashes at the mcc menu
I also didn't have to disconnect from the internet at all, but good to know in case others have any issues.
Our developers look at issues which multiple people have reported so if you know others experiencing this issue, ask them to file a ticket at https://aka.ms/halosupport."
Achievements
The “Madrigal Debut” achievement now unlocks as expected when activating the associated hidden soundtrack cue.
