Don't expect 343 to change gameplay mechanics in MCC. That's not the main intention for this collection.
ADS encourages slower, longer ranged fights with a "stop and pop" mentality. Halo is about short to medium range fast engagements while on the move.
ADS is not a "world wide accepted feature" rofl. There are brand new shooters being released right now that don't have ADS. i mean seriously, are the only other shooters you've ever played the COD franchise? The newer DOOM games for example have been hugely successful with no ADS. Have you been living in a cave with a copy of Modern Warfare 4 or something?
ADS is for milsims, Halo is not a milsim.
Sure I have played doom where you can shoot your enemy and stagger them then you can execute them to get your health back. so its not the same. doom is a great game so I can overlook that it has no ads because its fun. this feels like the opposite of fun for me. I shoot the aliens they dont slow down they dont stagger and they keep shooting you with 100% accuracy. I thought everyone is living in a cave thanks to Corona Virus :P some games dont need it but this one definitely feels like it could use it.
What's the point in having an optional feature that does nothing? It can't be functionally different than normal aiming if it is truly to be optional.
The only part of MCC that really has it is ODST with the silenced smg, which has a mild enough zoom that it feels a bit like aiming down the sights for them.
Anything with a health bar tends to flinch when shot. so you are either talking about elites, brutes in halo 3 or hunters. or prometheans in halo 4
Halo does not have ADS for most weapons because it is balanced that way. only weapons with ADS are headshot capable weapons because accuracy benefits them.
The only enemies that don't really stagger at all are Prometheans in Halo 4. Shielded Elites stagger once their shields are down, Brutes stagger once you get through their armor, even Hunters can stagger if you hit them in a soft spot with a powerful weapon (anything orange basically, most players go for the back), which is very doable without iron sights with a little practice.
Because it would fundamentally alter the function of many of the weapons, and as an "option," it would provide some folks in MP with a decisive ranged advantage over those choosing *not* to use said option.
