'Memory Can Not Be Read' Crash/Error At Launch
So upon first launching the MCC it will do the little Easy anti-cheat & loading pop-up page with the progress bar. Then it will launch the game. Shortly after the game actually launches it will display the error box "The UE4-MCC Game has crashed and will close" with "Fatal error!" in the message box. Upon clicking okay it will pop-up the error "The instruction at 0x4098acd2 referenced memory at 0x17b23140. The memory could not be read. Click on OK to terminate the program". Obviously clicking okay there kills the program.

I have tried every option here: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=1274-uohk-5653

I also tried a couple I found from google here and there (and the Halo site). I even re-installed all .Net Framework versions and C++ versions. Killed every background program except for Steam and Avast. Even tried setting the Virtual Memory to 2x my 16GB of RAM (so 32768 mb. Tried 1x at first but didn't work). Not sure what else I can possibly do to fix it but anything you guys can recommend I will try. PLEASE HELP! getting super frustrated here. Thanks.

Windows 7 64-bit
16GB RAM DDR3 1600
GTX 970 SSC 4GB
Intel i5 4690k 3.5GHz

FYI just to set up the reason this makes no sense to me... The game was working perfectly fine ever since I bought it months ago. Launched all games/modes just fine, no issues. I tried overclocking my CPU a tiny bit for another game and all of the sudden MCC stops working (not sure if it was that or just a coincidense). And yes, I reverted ALL BIOS settings back to factory defaults to be sure. And yes, I am fully updated for Windows updates.

Anyone? Sorry to bump but I am seriously getting frustrated here and nothing is working. I literally have no idea what to do (short of upgrading to Windows 10, and I don't want to go through all that hassle only to find out that didn't work either). Have looked everywhere for other solutions. Deleting the game completely to re-install isn't really an option either, I currently have internet that sucks (about 250kb/s download).

BTW: Just updated my graphics driver and still doing it. And figured I'd mention this... I tried launching it directly from the exe and I get a 'missing XAudio2_9Redist.dll' error of some kind. Followed the way to fix that from some site and now launching from either the exe gives me some error saying it can't find something else despite this other dll being there. Launching from Steam after this just closes the game after the little Easy Anti-Cheat loading screen pop-up thing goes away.

And finally yes, launching in the 'mods' mode does the same thing regardless. No mods installed anyway. Deleted the game's save files folder, put the exe in compatibility mode for Windows 7, XP, Administrator, 640x480 mode, etc.... all produce no change.

oh no. I came here hoping you had an answer... did anything work?

"Good news everybody" I found a solution.
you wrote that you "Killed every background program except for Steam and Avast."

I turned off my Avast and MCC fired up just fine. I browsed around a bit, exited, fired it up again, and when Avast came back on MCC crashed. So, in my experience it was Avast that isn't playing well the the Easy Anti-cheat system.

Good luck to you!

Doesn't work for me, sadly. Appreciate the tip though.

EDIT: Literally just now fixed it!!!!! Thank you so much, Soapy. I had given up. When you said what you did worked I deleted my entire anti-virus to try. When that didn't help I thought: 'I am gonna try one more thing real quick' and googled where the save files were and deleted them lmao..... WORKING! If you hadn't posted that I would have never even tried it. Feel so stupid for not trying this earlier. So... anyone having this issue and nothing else has worked do this:

1) Go to Drive Letter\Users\USERPROFILE\AppData\LocalLow\
2) Delete the "MCC" folder entirely
3) Run MCC from Steam & re-configure your settings

Note: You may be able to get away with just deleting the config settings files within the folder, but I just deleted the whole thing to be sure.

THANK....GOD!!! Like I said feel so dumb for not doing that earlier.
