As I understand it, it's supposed to be open world.
I have been unimpressed by games before they launched and come to love them after, but I'm just not feeling this one for some reason.
Not only armor but his naked body too.
So I would go with chief
And what's this no skill BS? Doomguy was chosen as one of the most skilled warriors of all time, that's why he's in Quake 3 Arena, in which he's lived countless lives perfecting his trade. His skills are not only in accuracy, speed, unkempt rage & sheer fortitude but also in weapon handling, hence the aforementioned massive inventory he lugs around.
Speaking of classic Doomguy, his chainsaw doesn't require an animation break nor does it need fuel (although in this case I think the H2 Energy Sword is a better weapon, especially with sword canceling). His shotgun has far better range. His BFG is far superior to most weapons (a Fuel Rod is pretty deadly but no as consistent), and if we count DOOM 64 he also has access to the Unmaker. Keep in mind that while features such as reloading and jumping were automatic (based on your previous actions) in the original DOOM games they still existed as did rocket jumping (generally the MC cannot rocket jump without killing himself but he can nade jump).
I'm a huge fan of both series but there is little contest, Doomguy is the original uber chad. Then when we jump forward to the newer DooM series ... he's essentially a demigod.
