How does the betrayals/kicking system work?
I've had 3 different occasions where I've took the sniper before some other childish idiot can get it and have been betrayed. They betray me a second time and from playing on the 360/xbone ages ago, A second betrayal would give you the option to kick the player.

I go to get the sniper from the child that has betrayed me and I get kicked? How is that even fair?

That is childish.

You wait for them to scope in and melee them in the chest like a real man.

He called dibs man.

Clearly the only fair thing is to remove the kick option entirely. There are no rules in war.

The betrayal booting happens on the 3rd betrayal, not the second.
The great thing about Halo’s betrayal system from the VERY beginning of time itself is that it gives whoever was betrayed the power to forgive or to kick.

Takes a bit of maturity to understand the nuances of it I’m sure. If someone has that much of a hard-on over a pick-up let them use it.. If they do well, well that’s a plus for you, because you’re winning and we all know how the great Charlie Sheen felt about that..

But.. if the guy that is that hot and bothered over let’s say the sniper, and he dies.. Well.. that could be winning to my friend, because you get to keep playing, and have a chance to pick it up off of his corpse and prove if you have a gargantuan e -peen or not...

But, really you know.. betraying each other is easier isn’t it..?

But why not just let me use it and when I die, they can have it? Oh right, Halo 3 is full of children.

How can you call "dibs" when someone already has picked the weapon up?

Like I said, I got betrayed twice. Once for picking the sniper up from the child that wanted it, then he betrays me again. I kill him to retrieve the sniper and then I get kicked for ONE betrayal?

Absolute stupid system

Sorry, I was being facetious with that earlier remark.

not all the time. i'm pretty sure in halo 2a multiplayer you're right, but in halo 2 classic i've been booted after one accidental grenade betrayal

This is what happened to me. I got betrayed twice by the same person. I go to betray him for taking the sniper, which I picked up when it spawned, then I get kicked? Makes no sense what so ever.

I've heard of this happening for years. I'm pretty sure it's a flaw in the system that allows the betrayer to kick you after he betrays you twice. Knowledge is power. When this happens to you just know that the booting system is in full effect.

I want to spell this out.

  • A betrays B
  • A betrays B
  • B betrays A
  • A can kick B!
  • A kicks B!

It's terrible and I don't know if I have all the info but this could really be how it works in practice. There are still plenty of exceptions and it doesn't always work out. Keep in mind that if the enemy has damaged you then being betrayed might end up not counting as a betrayal.
