Spring Jump?
What's 343's stance on the spring jump technique? I knew it was a glitch in Reach back in the day but since then it's now been in 3 more games (H4, H2A, H5). People talk about the map designs in Halo 5 like they were built for it but I don't play that one so I don't know. They chose (choose?) not to patch it in a total of four games now. It's satisfying to get it right and doesn't give enough extra height to be gamebreaking, except maybe when combined with jetpack. Is it considered a feature at this point? Do people think it's likely to return in Halo Infinite?

It's where you land while crouched, then jump again while releasing crouch. It's very precise, but gets you something like 5-15% more air out of your jump. It's been there since Halo Reach's original release

I think you might be talking about the Ghost Jump, which is exclusive to Halo 3. That's the one where you release crouch as you're going up a wall to get a second jump, right? The Spring Jump is the one that's been in all of them since Reach and gives you a little more height for your from-the-ground jump. If you're a Spartan, it makes you jump almost as high as an Elite and if you're an Elite it makes you jump higher than anything else. It doesn't work in Halos 1-3 or ODST.

(Edit) I have however seen the same jump/release crouch technique used in Halo 3 to convert vertical momentum to horizontal momentum while sliding on a ramp, but this actually reduces the vertical momentum overall. I think this is called a ramp jump or a slide jump? Not sure. Same input, different results
