It's just the map locations that get marked off once you use them.
The way the audiologs work is that they're not specifically tied to a location for a specific audiolog; you will have to check each of those locations specifically and see which ones pop (are highlighted yellow) for you and are interactable to begin with.
It's recommended to finish the game first as that unlocks all of the locations and you can find them in any order you'd like.
Ah I have completed the game, as mentioned. But I don't quite understand, because it seems like you can only activate 1 audiolog at a time, as if there's some sort of sequence to it. So I just have to run around to *all* the locations, and just hope I find mine?
More or less. But it's not actually a total "wonder and hope to get lucky". If car alarms , signs and kiosks are acting up, there's an audiolog nearby....
