Ultimate Tier List
Hey guys. I went through the obviously objective process of rating the weapons, vehicles, and equipment in the Bungie Halo games. I couldn't really remember much about Halo 4 since it has been a while and I never played Halo 5.

Enjoy. Here is the link[docs.google.com].

Here are my uninvited thoughts on your Halo CE ratings (because I grew up playing the PC port and I know it best of all the Halo games). I like the Halo Reach vehicle ratings (one vehicle in particular).

I totally agree with you on the grenades being top tier in Halo CE (and the Frag Grenade being better than the Plasma Grenade, even if it doesn't instant kill). The Shotgun is also basically a power weapon in Halo CE and deserves top spot as well, even if we only consider how good it is against the Flood.

Similarly, the Assault Rifle is just not that great in campaign. It works perfectly fine if you get enemies into the effective range, but the problem is, the effective range is just slightly further than melee distance, and Elite Majors backpedal so yeah, not that great of a weapon because you have to work with it.

The Needler also deserves where it goes. Above average as a weapon and works great when you need it to, but not my first pick.

However, the Pistol is not a top tier weapon in Halo CE's campaign in my opinion (I would stick it one tier below, alongside the Needler, as an above average weapon). It's good, but it's not on the level of the other top tier weapons. I would rather carry one of the other top tier weapons over the Pistol for example.

The most important thing is that the Pistol won't crack Elite shields at a good pace, and if you can crack Elite shields in Halo CE, you can do anything. You will never be able to kill an Energy Sword Zealot with the Pistol by itself in a straight fight without using a Plasma Grenade or something to stop him from just walking up to you and clubbing you to death with just the hilt.

The Halo CE Pistol can headshot and that's about it. It's not exactly hard to kill Grunts and Jackals with the Plasma Pistol (which is the best PvE weapon in my opinion). Sure, given enough rounds you can get through a Major's shields, but you would probably just grenade him at that point.

The biggest problem I have with your Halo CE ratings is you did not put the Plasma Pistol in the first category, above even the grenades, if not making a category just for itself. Seriously, you put it on the same level as the Assault Rifle. Have you used the thing in Halo CE? It is objectively the strongest weapon in probably the entire series' campaigns. You can beat the entire game comfortably using just the Plasma Pistol to kill every enemy in the game. I have a feeling you rated the Pistol so high because you haven't used the Plasma Pistol to kill literally everything in the game (yet).

If I'm reading your list correctly, you either relied on grenades or power weapons or the Pistol to deal with Elites, instead of just using a Plasma Pistol to remove them from your presence. And if it wasn't obvious, I'm not talking about the overcharge combo, which is frankly a waste of time in Halo CE.

The Plasma Pistol is the most ubiquitous weapon in Halo CE. Extremely strong against shields, extremely strong against flesh, 100% accurate, fires as fast as you pull the trigger and common as dirt. The only downside is the minor travel time and the slight bolt drop off beyond mid range. That's it. Oh and the fact that Grunts and Jackals use it against you.

While it is more efficient to use the Pistol to headshot Grunts and Jackals, the Plasma Pistol absolutely wipes out Elites, who are the only threatening enemies in Halo CE, and it also wipes out Grunts and Jackals and every other enemy in the game. It takes less than 10 regular bolts to get through Elite Major shielding and the rest of the bolts before it overheats to outright kill them. It takes around 5 shots to kill Grunts and Jackals. All while firing as fast as you can click. The Pistol is woefully underpowered against Elites on the other hand.

One of the problems people seem to have with Halo CE is the non-regenerating health leading to nasty situations where you only have one bar of health and a lot of level to go through. This problem is obviously caused by not killing enemies (Elites) fast enough, and that problem is caused by not using the Plasma Pistol. The gravity lift of Truth and Reconciliation and Into the Belly of the Beast, which I've seen some people struggle with, are some of my favorite parts of the game because it is nothing more than a slaughter with the Plasma Pistol.

I would also rate the Sniper Rifle on the same level as the Rocket Launcher. The Rocket Launcher can't one shot Elite Majors and you can only carry 10 rockets at a time, whereas the Sniper Rifle two shots Elite Majors (3 shots Zealots) and you can carry 28 shots. Again, I think the only thing that matters when rating weapons in Halo CE is how well they kill Elites, and simply put, I would rather have a Sniper Rifle than a Rocket Launcher. However, against the Flood, the Rocket Launcher is obviously the better choice. There are very few situations where you are not given a vehicle to destroy enemy vehicles, so the Rocket Launcher destroying vehicles really well isn't that important imo.

The Plasma Rifle doesn't deserve to go in the last category. While I personally don't use it often, mostly just for fun sometimes, like the Needler, it works far better than the Assault Rifle in the most important category in Halo CE: stripping shields.

Lol. Nice. When I was making the list with my friends, I even commented that readers would be able to tell my bias for Halo: CE.

Some of the items are memes like the Fortlift being what we called "god tier" in Halo: Reach.

I've spent the most time in Halo: CE so that reflects my experience. I think the general consensus about that game is everything can stand on its own. Like you say, even something as unassuming as the plasma pistol can tear through people. I can see why the magnum should probably be demoted though. As much as I love it, I have learned over years of firing it that it can be inconsistent at medium to long range, especially with the badly ported PC version.

Halo 2's multiplayer is not really my input at all since I didn't have internet until about 2012. Every other game's multiplayer was either through LAN or my brother's Xbox Live account when we'd play split-screen at my grandmother's. So really I could only comment on everything besides Halo 2's multiplayer.

Speaking of, Halo 3's multiplayer is actually what prompted me to separate the guns into columns of PvE and PvP. The spiker was what came to mind as I've always found it was absolute trash when versing other players since the projectiles are too slow and players are generally more intelligent than an AI opponent. I thought it pretty decent at mowing down thick enemies like brutes. The spread was just enough that you could pepper their body reliably enough to take their defences down in no time.

Oh I should also note that the PvE columns assumed Heroic difficulty.
