How do I get better at Halo 3?
It seems like I lose every gun fight even if it's a fair 1v1, Even if I get the jump on the person I'll still lose, it's frustrating being bottom of the scoreboard every match.

Buy a controller and put the sensitivity as low as or close to low as you can and reap the benefits of barely having to move your stick and 4 tap people.

Aim for the body with the 4th burst being at the head. If you're put on a server that's further away than the closest server to you and the other person is doing said above things you will lose the 1v1 if they're closer to said server ie I'm from east coast NA but the servers put me in nothern ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Europe, yea imagine how that goes.

practice. back in the day we would practice in the octagon map where u would spawn intantly infront of each other constantly practicing your strafe and br skills. other than that just play the game, throw more accurate nades, team shot, etc.

If the enemy is using a sniper rifle, and you are using a shotgun, it's obvious they will win. So which weapons you and they currently use is a big game changer, in that regard. Also, don't jump on someone unless you need to get close with a shotgun, or melee hit.

If you both are using the same weapons, it's about who shoots first and keeps riddling the other with bullets. If you lose even if you shoot first, then it's likely you need to try and get better aim. I would recommend to turn off mouse acceleration, and maybe lower your sensitivity(unless you don't have enough mouse space for that). Do aim for the head with headshot capable weapons, since it will finish them off quickly when shields are depleted.

This game isn't CoD or Battlefield. There's only a small few ways to get a 1 shot on an enemy, so don't expect just because you shot first that you will win. Look at what they are using. If they use a rocket launcher, and you try to shoot them with the assault rifle, you will get decimated when they shoot you, as the RPG can one-shot you, whereas the assault rifle can not.

I can name a few weapons that can kill you in less than half a second, if not one-shot you:
Heavy Sniper
Beam Rifle
RPG
Shotgun at point blank(I'm not 100% sure, since I never did or seen anyone do it)
Grenades
Energy sword(AKA Plasma sword)
Gravity hammer
Meleeing the back can also one-shot, but just keep tabs on the rader at the bottom left.

If you see someone with an RPG, they will try to shoot your legs, so you should jump off a large obstacle if they do. If they have a melee weapon, just hold S and riddle them, or throw a plasma grenade on them. You can't do much about a sniper/beam rifle, so keep moving left and right. Also jump so your head is not horizontal to them for an easy headshot.

be aggressive once you start firing and don't attack unless your shield is full and you have the jump on them first. don't die and you'll find that the time you save from not respawning will have you at more kills.

Having control over power weapons/vehicles can help too. Try to memorize the spawns of power weapons in each map, and get to it first.

after going like 6 years without playing halo 3 and taking a 3 month break from halo as a whole i struggled coming back, but i just played alot of matchmaking and found the flow of it again, as it really just comes to down to playing it frequently.

some things to know is to lead your shots as the projectiles are not as quick as in other halo games. this also goes for all halo games but learn the spawns on maps as it will help you have control of power ups and power weapons.
Learn to evade (not die if a fight is going bad, get away so shields recharge), learning not to die is more powerful in a sense than learning to kill. Also learning maps is massive.

If you can't get away (which is rare once you learn how to engage properly) things like sticky's can save you rather than trying to fight a losing battle (at worst you'll both die).

Shotgun is indeed one shot, you can also headshot (1 shot kill) with the bomb or flag in hand (you often want to jump while looking down to get headshots with bomb or flag).

1. Don't peak snipers, flank em'
2. Don't rush rocket launchers
3. Keep your eyes on the motion sensor.
4. Lead your shots if you're not stuffing your barrel into the enemy's chest or face.
5. If you see a solid red line anywhere near you, get to cover and wait it out.
6. Grenades are good for clearing clusters of enemies, not individual people.
7. There's power in numbers, overwhelm your enemy with more guys pushing at once.
8. Prioritize targets appropriately; biggest threat first, everything else is secondary.
And last but not least. The MOST important tip I can give you.
10. Play with a controller! Aim assist in this game broken af and completely overpowered.

Get a controller and let the game do the aiming for you.

Practice... but it will get better with the upcoming hitreg fix, so practice in the meantime.

If you want to play M/K, don't play Halo 3. Even if you want to be better, aim assist on Controller just killed this game on PC.
I played a lot on Multiplayer mods. But during the flight of Halo 3, I have to deal with players with controllers, and it just ruined everything. And as I can see, 343 didn't anything about that.
From 15kills average, to 2.

Controller is useless in smaller maps as well as a handicap during an ambush. You have to be able to respond quickly to an attack from outside of your FOV and by the time a controller player turns around, they're pretty much dead.

Use controller not even kidding. Ive switched from KBM to controller and since im always top fragging. (I've 4k hours in csgo just saying but aim wont help you here)
I feel like it's absolutely necessary for 2 classic 4v4. I went from average to top frag, but of course I could only do good for so long before I leveled out.

Those laser and rocket launcher matches are cancer with kbm you wont hit the laser but with controller it is like aimbot lmao:FFXIII2mog:
