What is the point of Legendary difficulty?
I am not shy when it comes to difficult games but there is difficult and stupid difficult. I mean when you get hit like 1 or 2 times and you die. How is that fun for anyone? I mean I am sure if I was younger I would have a bit more patience but to me it just stupid that they have it as a requirement. I am sure not everyone that plays Halo gets all the achievments because of the difficulty settings. I mean when I played The Last of Us 2 it didn't have a difficulty requirement. I mean I think you can make it harder but it wasn't a requirement like the last game.

I just finished playing Halo 3 on Heroic and even that I had to approach it differently. Especially dealing with the flood. Its the small ones that annoy me to no end.

Nobody's holding an M6G to your head making you play on Legendary and requiring you do it. That's the whole point of Legendary to pose a serious challenge, it isn't suppose to be a breeze. Just play the game on the difficulties you enjoy, and multi and have fun. Good luck out there Spartan.
Us hardcore fans are. We like to prove the motto, "Spartans never die. They're just stuck beating Legendary."

Halo 2 is literally the only one in the series that I never beat legendary on. The problem I have with it is I liked doing those runs in coop, but in H2 when one player dies both players get sent back to a check-point which always was incredibly frustrating.
I solo finished it in the past and my opinion was "Never again!". I remember emptying an entire sniper rifle's mag into the head of an Ultra and he was still running around.
I said that and then I started LASO.

I felt that a lot of cheating the AI was needed to get through without dying. I mean I shot from doorways that enemies didn't go to because of their leash.

I had to do that in a few areas of Halo CE, think it was the initial area where you hold out before they drop a warthog. I just found the spawns crazy. Likewise the huge area before you enter the ship in Truth and Rec, just drop after drop after drop of mobs and those turrets are useless.

You'll enjoy Reach in Legendary, it didnt feel quite as cheesy in regards to having to get playful with checkpoints or game mechanics.

I've just started on H3 Legendary, Id already done it on 360 back when it came out but thought why not go again as im going to do them all anyway. It feels incredibly strange shifting onto H3s shield system after playing the others but I think I'll breeze through it.
Heroic is the community standard, Legendary is for Legends and Gods.
Also, all the Halo games are full of different physics and mechanics,
dont get too used to one and expect the others to be the same.
the AR changes drastically between Reach, CE, 3 and 4, and in ODST it is the same as Halo 3, they are on the same engine. But some slight mechanic shifts

I would say take your time, play heroic with some skulls on
Catch, Fog, Famine, Tilt - are my main go to skulls
later id add Thuderstorm, toughluck and perhaps mythic
if you get used to playing like that, turn them off, put legendary on, and it should be easier
OR, play Heroic with All Skulls, Not a huge fan of Blind, for obvious reasons, but if you do it with most skulls on, on heroic, Legendary shouldnt be too bad

basically just practice, or play with a friend in co-op
halo 3 is one of the few that supports 4-player co-op
unlike halo CE or Halo 2, id also suggest not focusing on Achievements and just getting used to the game - but ultimately play your way, play however you like
you dont have anything to prove by beating the games on legendary, or soloing LASO
Ive done it, it can be a pain with lots of anger - but since the MCC released on PC, ive just been enjoying my games rather than raging at them, which is ultimately how games should be enjoyed

Play the game on normal difficulty for the story, then attempt legendary difficulty if you feel like it.

I myself don't particularly enjoy these kinds of challenges, as they mostly necessitate only a massive break in pacing.
They were meant to be played on Heroic for Bungie's ideal experience. Not everyone should be playing on Normal. You literally skipped the best difficulty jumping from Normal to Legendary. You can skip Legendary unless you just want achievements, because that is all it is for.

I am playing Reach on Legendary. So Jun decided to do a fist stomp and I was next to him and I died. So friendlies can kill you but you can't kill them since they are vital to the story, I guess I am not that vital to the story if my allies can fist stomp me to death.

it's an "achievement". I just beat halo 2 laso. did I like it? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. do I feel better never having to feel like torture myself again? yes. The difficulty ramp is there to challenge you, make you think outside the box, learn and adapt. I love halo 3, specifically the legendary campaign. I know where most the random spawns are, I can speed run it solo or coop in about 1 1/2 hours, however, I still get a surprise every time, cause the ai does something different, or the people I play with act different every time. while I repeat my normal routes and strategies, I have to die and learn how each and every new group I run with plays, and it shows how well the difficulty makes the game unique, and fun. during sierra 117 my whole team dies on average atleast 3-10 times per person, and maybe 1-2 checkpoint spawns. by the time we are on the storm, we are communicating, calling out, reading each others moves. I know if I run in full speed I have 1-2 people shooting things around me and covering, while the 4th is heading to better ground to provide ranged support or to take care of stragglers. we die, we cuss, we laugh, we move on.

while halo 3 I found I always had a standing chance, I have only beaten halo 1 on legendary maybe 6-7 times, and halo 2 legendary twice and laso once. halo 3 laso a few times, halo 1 laso once. odst legendary a few times, and I have not beaten halo 4 or 5 on legendary. I can do it, and will someday, but I cannot commit enough into the story to care enough to suffer for it.

find the right people to play with until you get a hang of it, then its bearable (except halo 2. that's torture).
legendary is ez. get good.
Any1 want to play coop? I need friends who want to play coop. Add me nani0302.

ur funny lol
Trust me, when you've played legendary enough, it becomes the only difficulty that is remotely interesting to play. All of the other difficulties become too easy and predictable lol. I can give you some tips if you like, but it really boils down to having a deep understanding of how the campaign works. Sound cues, weapon locations, etc.

But yeah, legendary is cake for a lot of us. I'm at a point where I have to do "AR/SMG only" runs or "no vehicle" runs while on legendary just to spice things up lol.

Sometimes I'll do "keep all the marines alive" runs, but those can be really really infuriating on legendary just because of how dumb the friendly AI is

What is the point of you selecting Legendary?

I gave up on the friendly AI on legendary. I tried to keep some alive when I was driving around. I mean even civilians are often casualties of war. I wish I could give them orders like stay right here and don't move.

I am playing Reach on legendary and it's nice to have squadmates that are bullet sponges. I think Jorge lost gallons of blood by taking the heat.
Achievement hunting is a big part of Halo. Legendary also is really not that hard once you get into it
Finished 3 just then Legendary Solo. I'd beaten it before but it was so long ago.

It's pretty fair IMO. Loads of weapons, power ups etc placed to help out, quite generous check points, you can skip through a decent amount of areas without fighting and trigger the odd checkpoint. Arbiter is also a beast if you just get in cover and leave him to fight himself or just support him.

Always have disliked Cortana as a level, its well done it terms of taking the flood from punch bags to major annoyances but those ranged flood are the pits. I think I finished it with 900 score which is funny to me as flood levels are the ones I do for score challenges.
