The long night space mission is far too hard
I have been working on the solo through legendary achievement and this mission is just not fun. This space ship part is killing my want to finish, it's so instant how fast the covenant ships kill me at this point where there are both types of ships out. There is no challenge it's just instant death, how is this balanced at all? Both my hull and shields drop to 0 in about 2 seconds immediately when anything targets me. I hate this. I watched a guide online to see what to try and the guy I was watching could sit in fire for a long time without dying, his shields also didn't take 15 seconds to recharge like mine do, am I just missing something?

It's not a very fun mission(Like all reach missions imo) and the only way to do anything without getting brutally murdered is to cheese it and hide behind Anchor 9

If you're having trouble i've seen some people say staying behind friendly fighters helps.

no its not too hard, i beat the game solo in under 3 hours on legendary. cap your fps at 60, the AI in campaign get more accurate when you play at higher fps(you can test this on the mongoose run on the last mission, you will die about 30% as fast to the plasma turret on the scarabs)

That has nothing to do with the space mission. Nothing about anything else sucks, just this one part of one level.

Stay behind cover

so for the first part stay behind anchor nine and just peak out everynow and then to kill seraphs. For the Phantoms just fire your missiles without locking on at them, they'll still hit them. Then for the corvette fly straight for the underside of the ship nad take out the engines.

Long night of seraphs.

I'll give that a shot tonight

It is a pretty hard mission. I recommend you stick around the main structure.

it's hard for the wrong reasons imo, which sucks cause otherwise legendary is a lot of fun.

Cheese it out.
Don't bother taking this mission seriously.

Go behind the Anchor 9 and you'll see a rectangular hole. The steel beams have no hit box.
Slow down your Sabre and aim its nose to a corner.

Literally wait for like 10-12min. The Anchor 9 guns will deal with Seraphs and the Phantoms.
Do something else as you wait. If you're playing on LASO solo, you should stay near your PC to make sure bad luck doesn't happen.

For the scenario when you face the Corvette, quickly dive under the corvette and you can see docked Space Banshees: quickly shoot your rockets/guns at them. Retreat to the UNSC ship.

This is a bit more hands on but, you should "cruise" next to the UNSC ship on the other side (not on the side of the ship that's facing the corvette).

The guns on the UNSC ship will deal with Seraphs and Banshees. Your goal is to survive. You could dive all the way down towards Earth and hang around there but that takes too much time, as the seraphs following you will be out of UNSC gun range.

After ALL the fighters are dealt with, go for the engines then quickly retreat to the UNSC ship.

BE VERY CAREFUL when cruising next to the UNSC ship as it can kill you by ramming you. Find a speed sweet spot.

oh that sounds great, will try that out ty

In my opinion, this is THE WORST mission on Legendary.

Since you're playing on Legendary and not LASO, you can deal with most of the scenarios inside without much stress.
You should pick up the needler rifle and deal with the engineer in the hanger.
Most of Ranger Elites/Weak Elites can be dealt with the noob combo.

I don't know if you got the "Jorge Bigger Gun" achievement (or whatever its called) but if you don't, this is an opportunity.

Later in the level, there is a General Elite. I think 2 overcharged PlazPiz will take out its shield. If that's not doable, take out every enemy in the room. After that, there are Needler Rifles on the left side of the room. You can sparingly shoot those at the General. He will bob and weave. Close in the distance and if he armor locks, quickly run behind him and assassinate him.

The last part when you regroup with Jorge in the hanger after the starboard scenario (the part where you deal with the general and the Spec-Op elites),
you should do the Pelican Turret glitch:

after dealing with the enemies in the hanger room when returning from the starboard,
go to the cockpit area of the pelican. Crouch and hold RB or (Enter Vehicle Button) while crouch walking to the turret.
If you did it correctly, you should get like a glitched screen where everything appears grey, and an achievement (the one mentioned above) should pop up.

You can easily deal with the four Major Elites (a Plasma Launcher, Dual PlazRifle, ConcussRifle, and a Focus rifle?).

It's really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ retarded that you NEED to lock your framerate in order to complete the campaign on Legendary. I was at the last section of Long Night of Solace and it was hell. Good ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing I checked this forum before continuing to play the campaign. FFS.
