The fact you got 7 pages of comments so far for troll bait this is pretty good. Weak minded ones taking this thread seriously.

"Boo hoo game is ded"

16,679 players online.

This doesn't add up.
So the peak today is 16k i think, and that's fair for some it's christmas alright. Before that it was 23k then the day before that peak was 25k then the peak the day before that was 26 then before 28 then before 29 then before 31... You see where im getting at? Heck it's even holidays for kids now.

If it takes less then 30 seconds to find a lobby the game is not dead.

Game's so dead I have to press Escape as soon as I can so that the game doesn't put me in another match and I'm unable to leave before it counting as quitting.

People are buying AMD hardware everyday. When I ring them out I show 'em their free Gamepass codes. I'm sure some of those people are downloading this. They won't show on Steam charts. So even if you think people are leaving the Steam version, you have that to look forward to.
Oh look another anime profile pic, hes obviously a bigger man than all of you combined. Watch out!
What The Sigmar? 24 DIC 2019 a las 3:50 p. m.
I couldn’t give less of a ♥♥♥♥ as to what the self proclaimed pros think of the game. Their opinions mean nothing to me as someone who is playing this video game for the sake of having fun.

Also, good bait topic. Got me to reply.

Ok, let's try and end this thread on a high note, because you guys arguing semantics in the forums just isn't going to do anything. 343 have already got your money, they've made their bank, so gloating about how the game is dying just isn't a productive use of your time. The people who are defending it are more than likely playing it and enjoying it. They have also won.
With that said, shall we actually have a conversation about why the numbers are dropping? Because I think both sides probably should hear what the other has to say, because you are actually both right. Ok, here we go.

  • 1) Reach is, by most people's metric, the worst Halo game in Bungie's allotment of Halo games. People were very tepid on Reach in 09, and they are to some extent now. This is mostly from players who have played the full collection and know what they like and what they don't like. No amount of enginuity on 343's part will be able to change peoples' minds on this. These people will, like me, probably play the campaign, do a lot of Firefight, then buzz off. Likewise, people also have other games to play. The campaign, while brilliant, will not hold peoples attention for long. This is indeed of a Steam games' life-cycle. The "pros" that are mentioned absolutely hated Reach to begin with.

  • 2) The mechanical changes made by 343 to the progression system/Audio codec issues/Controller OP debate. Let's chalk this up to shall we say 'debatable topic' or 'performance complaint'. I know a lot of you keep banging on about how the controller is OP and that it's killing the game. The reality is that, as far as 343 is concerned, it isn't even going to make a dent in the player base. The majority of players don't seem to even be aware of these forum side issues, and are either playing, or not playing. Be careful when generalising in what you see as a microcosm of the Halo community. It isn't.

  • 3) Halo Reach, mechanically, is getting old. We have to face facts and admit that some features in this game are not as innovative or interesting as they once were. Times have changed for a lot of people. Genres have come and gone and people are used to a different type of shooter. This will probably have been the biggest hit to player base - negative player retention of nostalgic fans.

On the bright side. The player base will never drop to the point of where it will be difficult to find a game. The community itself is solidifying and the drop is slowing, which is entirely consistant with almost every other remake/reboot of a game series. Not to mention, after every Halo release, we will see a massive influx of players ready to jump back in. And that will almost always mean that every person jumping back in will find their preferred style of play, be it Reach, 3, or 4, take ya pick, and increase the average player count further.

In conclusion. Don't panic, don't fear-monger. And can everyone just chill out. Shouting portents doom and throwing out vaguely connect statistics does make you nostrodamus, it will more than likely just get you banned when things turn sour.
