Unpopular Halo Opinions
Things you never seem to find anyone else who agrees with you on, related to Halo of course.

I feel like Halo CEA had the best environments in the whole series.

Reach and CE are my favorite games in the series. I recognize and enjoy 2 and 3, but I got more playtime from CE and Reach, so those are what I've been looking forward to the most.

Unpopular opinions? Halo 2 is the best game in the whole series, and the Arbiter is a deeper, more nuanced character than the Chief.

That's not unpopular.

Really!? All I ever hear is hate for 2. I thought I was alone. Then again, I mostly remember being there during the hype, release, and subsequent salt mine when everyone made it to the last cutscene. I mean, I knew it was going to be a cliff-hanger, but it seemed that everyone else at the time had been unable to see that one coming from 10AU out.

Add me to that list :P Halo 1 and 2 is where it's at. Don't give much for the later games :)

I've never played 2. I only played Halo 3 and i LOVED it. I had beaten the campaign so many times and i would always dream of playing multiplayer, but i couldn't because i didn't have a Live account. However, was able to play multiplayer on my neighbors account and i actually won 3 of the 3 matches that i played.

Reach has the best looking Elites in the entire series. The only way it could been made more perfect is if the Elites had Halo 3 level customization. I like the darker tone of Reach and it's campaign which really hammers home just how threatning the Covenant is when humanity's best efforts merely delay Reach's destruction. It makes the UNSC's comeback in Halo 1-3 feel all the more impactful and satisfying.

I liked some of the new vehicles introduced in 4 and 5 like the mantis and some of the different variations of old vehicles. Including some interesting vehicles that arent player controlled and only used by enemies like the Kraken and the grunt mech. Its too bad these cool things are trapped in bad Halo games but with any luck, mods might make these things available to the Bungie Halos.

halo ce is the best. and no matter what they say- the assault rifle animation in combat evolved feels so good and bashing someone in the back with it so very satisfying. they were supposed to make some other games assault rifle like the ce one but its not the same. i think i might be thinking of halo 5? i can't remember. maybe they even changed it back....

I'd say that's teetering on popular opinion. Or perhaps a popular wish. Bungie have gone on record multiple times for describing how Chief was intended as a mostly blank avatar for the player to reflect off.
I would say that during the original trilogy they stayed true to that sentiment.

343 have gone on record for mentioning their intentions to make him just the opposite and positive fan receptions to the ongoing story has dropped off since. It seems like an amateur mistake that occurs every time a franchise gets handed over to somebody who doesn't know where to take the story next. They went for the low-hanging fruit by attempting to portray growth through emotional expression.

By contrast the Arbiter had to battle with the inner conflict that came with finding out that his entire life up to that point had been a lie. And instead of swilling in self-pity he just concentrated on doing something about it. His defining character trait was his dignity.

There's a line. Terminator 2 humorously teased the idea of a no-nonsense cyborg assassin having human feelings and people still loved it. But following Terminator films made it an overarching theme and it's caught a ceaseless reputation for bad sequels.

James Bond is an example of a survivor. His original concept for the books was to be a professional but otherwise ordinary person who isn't inherently interesting, but happens to be surrounded by interesting things. I wouldn't call that a totally accurate description of Bond today but for a very long time he did maintain the model of a person who didn't carry tremendous amounts of personal baggage.
