When is "too young" to play halo?
After Halo 3 for pc has come out, its reminded me that I was about 10 when I first started playing Halo. I remember playing with people my age, who had their younger siblings on as guests playing too. And that many people were my age when Halo 2 came out. I also remember staying home from high school to play Halo 3 when it came out, still "too young" based on the ESRB ratings.

So as a parent now, with my son being the same age I was when I first started playing, I wanted to ask other parents out there and start a discussion about when really is "too young" to play Halo? Should I introduce my son to Halo or wait until hes a teenager?

I obviously turned out fine but as a parent am always paranoid about this and that. So I thought other gamers who were 10 or so during the Old Halo Days would be a good people to reach out to.

Let him play, but do the proactive approach that parents should of done back in the day and turn voice chat off or teach your kid to mute the lobby chat, and you know, not scream over the mic. Some of the things people say over the voice chat I wouldnt want my kid to hear if I had one.

Halo is the exception I would give, with halo 5 almost being a T rated game imo, its just blood and some swears.

Best you can do as adult, established, thinking person - dont ask this kind of questions and think with your own mind, it wont take off from you any guilt or whatsoever till its your and your's only decision

I mean - if you got a child already, whatever age you're in - its best to think of this kind of things(or any kind of things really) with your own brain, memory and experience.
Many people can't understand that child is actualy really big deal where it assumes that you have enough knowledge, brain and own morality to raise it at least in the way so it can do well on their own and not ♥♥♥♥ up their life on one way or another just because in fact you were nor ready, nor being mentaly/intelectually/moraly capable of doing it.

Its not hate or throw into OP or anyone who reading it - its just information and fact my own vision of question

Halo 5 actually IS rated T for Teen, the only main halo game not rated M.

OP, my dad introduced me to Quake 3 Arena when I was 9. With all it's gore, blood, and satanic imagery. And we were a very Christian household. He simply made sure that I understood that nothing happening on screen was actually real, and that it was all just a game.

It depends on children. I watched action movies with my father and played resident evils when I was 6 years old. I think halo is ''childish'' game. It really depends how much violence your children has been exposed. I think halo universe is perfect settings for children. It has nice story and emotions that is good for childrens like old disney movies had. Beuty and beast, lion king etc.

This is a situation you're probably going to have to feel out yourself. To be fair, halo isn't too violent since everyone is clad in armor and shields. It masks the more grotesque side of gratuitous violence since most of the feedback you get are sparks and popping shields.

Then again, I was allowed to play violent video games at a very young age since my parents didn't really take the mature themes too seriously and just treated it like a toy.

When my daughter (5 years old) can explain to me in her own words why it's ok to shoot some things and not shoot others, such as legally hunting game animals vs. kids at school, then I'll let her play a game like this.

At the rate things are going, I'm suspecting 30 or so, when kids her age get to finally graduate.

Dont you think that there is cases when its more than okay to shoot other people as well as homicide often have much more reason behind it than media wants you to think

If its any help to you - you can deactivate voice and text chat in the Xbox account settings - this will by default turn off both of those.

I won't make any comment on the content and age appropriateness, just mentioning the options for that exist.

Maybe in America but in cucked europe you get fined or even go to jail if you protect your self. If you get assaulted and knock the other guy out you pay big money for attacker in court.

i went into a pc store with my dad in 2004 and he bought me halo ce i was 4 years old its really cartoony and he even played with me back then its not like gears of war or call of duty

Edit its also better than say fortnight where people can say the n word and other swear words and he learns horrible stuff like that through voice chat and text chat
id recomend playing the game with him like my dad did and if you find he is grossed out or bad when playing it maybe not allow him to play a lone and with you up to you though maybe just let him play single player first thats all i did when i was 4 i just replayed and played the single player missions till a year later when we got internet and play mp
