Bought MCC - Saying I Don't Own CE
Hey guys,

So I bought MCC, but when I go to launch anything other than Reach it sends me to the Steam Store to buy it. When I try to buy it anyway (even though I shouldn't have to) it says if I buy the DLC for the game it won't install it on this computer since I have it already... it's been like this for weeks.

Has anyone run into this before to help me out?

Thank you!!

Mike

Did you buy the 40 dollar Collection or just Halo Reach?

The $40 Collection. Weird, right?

Have you tried going to your Steam Library, right clicking on MCC, selecting properties, then going to the DLC tab to see if the other games are check marked or not?

Tried that, it's not on the list of available DLC.

Try going to your Steam Account Details and view your Purchase History and look to see if it says you bought the Master Chief Collection or just Reach.

One thing to note(if you havent already tried.) once you buy the game and try to play it via campaign or multiplayer it will pop up with a message saying that its not installed even though the game was bought and put into your collection, I had this happen when I got around to buying MCC as a whole and same with another friend of mine. The game will install once you actually try to play it for the first time in the launcher, but again, dunno if you have or have not tried already.

That second screenshot isn't saying you already own CE, it's saying you already own the "base" title of MCC.
The 6 games in the MCC are treated like DLC for a free "base game" that is used to access them. This base is given for free with any purchase of the 6 titles. (Yes it's confusing, it's how steam handles the kind of collection-as-one-library-title thing)

can you check this list, and see which of them you own? Trying to figure out if you bought the whole collection or just one part of it

Wow - that was it. I thought that warning was basically telling me if I bought CE that would accomplish nothing. Super confusing... This solved it though, I bought it and it worked.

Thank you all for your super fast help on this!!
