Have you tried going to your Steam Library, right clicking on MCC, selecting properties, then going to the DLC tab to see if the other games are check marked or not?

Try going to your Steam Account Details and view your Purchase History and look to see if it says you bought the Master Chief Collection or just Reach.
The 6 games in the MCC are treated like DLC for a free "base game" that is used to access them. This base is given for free with any purchase of the 6 titles. (Yes it's confusing, it's how steam handles the kind of collection-as-one-library-title thing)
can you check this list, and see which of them you own? Trying to figure out if you bought the whole collection or just one part of it
Wow - that was it. I thought that warning was basically telling me if I bought CE that would accomplish nothing. Super confusing... This solved it though, I bought it and it worked.
Thank you all for your super fast help on this!!
