The games are sort of in a weird state. Halo CE still has PC port mis-matches and inconsistencies, Halo CE Anniversary has story terminals that are spoilers for later games, Halo CE Anniversary's remastered graphics destroy the atmosphere and ruin tension, Halo 2: Anniversary is mostly great but starts with a post-Halo-4/pre-Halo-5 teaser that's worth starting in classic graphics just to avoid, and finally the "chronological" order of playing through the series does nobody any good because that means putting Halo: Reach first and that game's retcons are still in a weird limbo state.
There's no server browser but one is coming soon (after Halo 4). There are no mod tools but they are coming soon. The Xbox One version is still being patched and improved and it released back in 2014. 343i showed pictures of old Xbox developer units that they are using to try and fix Halo CE's underlying port problems. Halo: Reach will be getting a fix for audio issues soon. Halo 2 (classic)'s music will be patched to not be muffled. Forge will be releasing with Halo 3.
It's very fun in legendery difficulty ))
Wait till they fix all the issues first.
These clowns didnt even bother to fix the console release of MCC for years.
Stop giving them money for broken products.

Also,
"Co-Op Latency: At this time, we have not been able to identify any issues around this feature and the functionality is on par with the rest of MCC. There is no active development happening around improving/re-writing the legacy network code around this area of the game. Unfortunately, this would be a massive undertaking and just isn’t within the realm of what the team can currently support." -343 Industries' home page."
Imagine a company that has the multi-billion dollar backing of none other than MS claiming that they cant fix the product that theyre selling you because it "isn’t within the realm of what the team can currently support".
lmao.
Then Crossplay, a Custom Games Browser and input-based Matchmaking are going to be included, so the collection will definitely survive.
I won't deny there are a lot of quality improvements the multiplayer side of things could use, as well as the campaign, but for the most part you can have fun. Them recently fixing FPS interpolation in terms of animations, cinematics and environment give me hopes about the games that aren't too good above 60 FPS at the moment; Reach, but most noticeable H2A.
Ah, multiplayer is alive with 4vs4. And it is inferior even to PC games from the late 90s / early 00s. But this is not the main part of the game.
As for story and if the game is worth the price I say yes
Play Halo 1 and 2 with their original visuals.
