except for, some, things...
You don't find that it has a cartoony look that the previous Halos never had?
Change My Mind.
I don't find it does.
Things look ok from afar. I will admit certain things looked more detailed in Halo 4 than in Halo 5 but up close everything in Halo 4 just looks atrocious.
I don't know how long it's been since you played Halo 4, but I encourage you to look again. I once shared the sentiment that Halo 4's visuals looked funny, but after playing through it again, I got a whole different view. Yes, textures up-close are still rather horrendous, but not all aspects of the game look hideous. The bridge part in Requiem, the Forerunner structures in Forerunner, the rocky geometry of Reclaimer, and all those locations still have some beauty, regardless of faithfulness to the originals. You just have to look at them again, through your own perspective and not through a video. If you don't have an Xbox, remember to sign up for PC flighting when Halo 4 comes around so you can look at them yourself.
Also... you're not wrong about the devs. Most of them were people who didn't like Halo.
I know what you're talking about. There are parts that do look really cool.
But imo, the visuals lost that realistic look that the original Halo games always went for. You have to admit, there is something completely different about the visual style of 343's Halo games vs Bungies' Halo games.
It goes beyond just design. Sure, weapon models look different, the covenant has new designs etc etc.
But just the basic "style" of their graphics looks completely different. Halo 1-3 and Reach all stuck with a consistent "vibe" in terms of how the games look and it seemed like the were going for a reality based vibe.
Each 343 game aside from the redone textures for the anniversary games have a cartoonish look to them.
H2A (multiplayer only), Halo 4, and Halo 5 all have a somewhat cartoony look to them.
Armor just looks like plastic to me in 4 and 5.
Yeah overall... they really aren't anything special graphically.
You need to get your eyes checked if you think Halo 4 looks like Borderlands.
