Halo CE Flood One Shotting Bug

Anyone know why flood combat forms can just randomly one shot the player for all their health and shields from long range when they’re using shotguns and pistols? I keep having this ruin my attempts at one life legendary runs and its really starting to kill my desire to even try.

You're not being one shot by the pistol as it's not possible unless you're playing an MP mode without shields and you're hit in the head. The Shotgun however has a lot longer range than people realize in CE.

The issue is that unless you're paying real close attention (I certainly don't.) a shotgun Flood can easily one shot you because you mistake it for the AR and well that's likely what you're running into.

The worst level in CE and in my opinion Bungie's original trilogy is The Library which is probably the most egregious example I can think of involving Flood nonsense, It even has a section with multiple rocket launcher floods. THAT will one hit you from any distance.

No trust me, I’m well acquainted with CE’s shotgun and level layouts. I know each mission like the back of my hand, but I’ve been straight up shot and killed with both pistols and shotguns from across the library with single shots which are taking out fully charged shields and 100% blue health. It’s absolutely a glitch of some sort but I don’t know what causes it.

If a flood is killed at the exact moment he shoots his weapon, it can do massively increased damage. If he happens to hit you with a shotgun, it will be enough to completely wipe out your full health and shields.

This is actually a glitch in CE known as the shotgun glitch, it is RNG but if the flood shoots his shotgun during a death animation it will somehow one shot you. I'm nore sure what in the scripting does this but you aren't incorrect it's pretty RNG how it occurs.
