Halo 2 Co-Op mode respawn

Hi, I'm playing with my friend Halo 2 co-op mode and unlike in Reach and CE there is no option to turn off going back to checkpoint afer one of us die ( We're playing on Legendary level with skull so death is a part of our life ). We could aslo see that there are one skull which gives one player boost after second one dies.
And here is my question : are we blind and tere is there a option to change it ? Or that's just how halo 2 Co-Op works ?

P.S: First 2 missions ( excluding training ) took us 4 hours :D

i think this is a bug, do know it is happening on my legendary play through as well.... ps. take care on the jackal snipers

I believe that Halo 2's Legendary campaign resets to the last checkpoint after a player dies as an intentional part of the game.

This is not a bug. Halo 2 is the hardest game in the series and the only game that is arguably harder in co-op because this is an intended design choice.

OP, you just have to learn to stay alive and deal with it. If you can beat Halo 2 on legendary, the rest are cake.

So what is the point of "Iron" skull ? It says that "Dying in co-op resets you at your last saved checkpoint". It happens even when this skull is disabled.
