no voices in halo ce story mode
I can't hear any dialogue in Halo CE when playing story mode. I tried reinstalling the game and it didn't help. Anyone run into this problem?

It did, my pc speakers are 7.1 surround sound and switching to stereo worked, played first two missions and its working now.
Glad you got it working. :)

Never heard of this happening before. This sounds like something on your end.

I assume you have checked the in-game audio settings?

Found an old post on reddit from 2014 that from the xbox version that mentioned the same bug. Apparently if you have 7.1 surround sound speakers you need to manually switch your audio to stereo instead of surround sound or you won't hear the dialogue in cutscenes. Interesting that it made its way into the pc version too.

I found that one as well. I find it unlikely that it is the exact same one, but its always worth following the steps to see if their fix works here.

All the voices (at least in cutscenes) in halo 1 come from the central speaker, so you might wanna check that out in the windows settings

Doesn't work at all.
Verified the game -> didn't help

tried to switch 7.1 to stereo -> doesn't work (especially since synapse 2.1 doesn't support that feature anymore)

tried to bypass the 2nd error by using 3.5mm in-ear headphones -> DOESN'T WORK

I'm too lazy to reinstall 6.5GB

'flagship game' of 343/Microsoft
