People leaving matches
I stopped playing MCC for like 2 months because most of my games people keep leaving. I come back and the very first game because were down 5 points my whole team leaves the match. I don't recall this happening this often years ago but it's been happening a lot in MCC on pc.

legit I've just gone afk until the match ends after my whole team quits. before I stopped playing it was happening almost every other game members of my team or the other team were dropping off because they were losing.

I still love to play halo but the fact people ruin the matches by leaving really makes me wanna stick to single player and ignore other players out right

I can’t speak for other people, especially given how I don’t know what gamemode you’re playing, but as someone who has gone on record as quitting fairly often from Invasion matches, my mindset was consistently whether the match can be summarized as me having to babysit my team or not. Given that Invasion was ranked, and that rank goes down with losses for some godforsaken reason, I would have rather taken the short soft ban rather than be punished for the game sticking me with people way below my skill level yet against folks who are well near my skill level.

The competitive playlists lack any sort of fair matchmaking algorithm, leading to extremly one-sided games quite often, which leads me to quit prematurely when I’m the one being screwed over by it all. And the way I see it, the team I’m on is getting stompted with or without me, so it makes no difference if I’m there or not.

That was my mindset, anyways. I’ve seen plenty of people leave in the form of ragequitting or because some schmuck deciding to kick them for one accidental team kill too many. But as for the majority of cases where people just leave for seemingly no reason, I haven’t the faintest idea. Maybe their moms finished making tater tots and are telling them to get their asses downstairs, or something.

Progression systems do that to players. They want the match to end with as many account points of any kind they can get and quickly start the next match, so they can grind their e-peen. I first observed this behaviour in the League of Legends beta, where people would vote to surrender on the first sign of trouble and start spamming the text box with insults for those who chose to see the match to the end.

crashes I understand but if I'm doing 4v4s and my 3 teammates keep leaving because the other team is only 10 points ahead, just wtf.

"All quits are automatically tracked and recorded. It’s worth noting that we’re monitoring the state of games and evaluating additional parameters to determine the severity of the quit, including how many players have already quit the match, etc."

"At the end of each game, players who quit, or commit enough betrayals will be automatically reported, but the actual reputation penalties will not be immediate, as we’re currently monitoring to make sure everything is behaving correctly, and applying penalties to confirmed offenders. For example, if you were to quit a large number of matches in a row, you will not see an immediate drop in reputation, but once your behavior is verified, penalties will be applied, and you may see your reputation lowered. When a player’s reputation falls far enough, they will only be able to play matchmaking with other low-reputation players."

If you quit too much you'll only play with quitters, teamkillers and other terrible people. Had you stuck it out maybe your teams wouldn't be so terrible.

I might have a solution to your mic woes. I used to not be able to hear any in-game voice chat but still be able to hear literally everything else.

Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Sound -> Playback

In theory that's true, but I would be highly skeptical of any claims that 343 makes regarding their regulation of just about anything. They fail to ban tons of offending players during their ban waves, such as myself when they were punishing folks for swordlining, and they claim to fix things that remain outright broken. I'm not saying they're liars, but I would definitely take everything they say with a grain of salt and wait until there's some verifiable evidence to back up what they say is going on.

over all. even they hand out punishments or not. being a ♥♥♥♥ is still being a ♥♥♥♥. all you'll be known for is that dude who hates losing and quits at the first sign of a losing match so no one will try anyway, I just go afk till the match is over or screw around if were losing really badly

The game absolutely needs backfilling like every other modern game, then the wait times wouldn't be as comically shid and they wouldn't have to impose stupid penalties for quitting a casual game, OR getting a temporary ban because their game has crashed yet again. I understand they have FAR more pressing issues than retroactively reworking the matchmaking system of 10+ year old games, but I'd rather have waited for all the games to be released in a playable state with all the modcons and tweaks they desperately need

Nope, nope, nope. That is one of the most annoying things in Overwatch for me. First match of the night, losing backfill. That just causes folks to join and drop until they find a match they want. The joy of winning a "come from behind" backfill is almost never there and many times it is joining so late into the match I don't even see the enemy before the match is over. Or, how about you are on a losing streak, kinda upset already, and blam, multiple losing backfills in a row. I started just putting OW down when either I start the night off as a horrible backfill or get thrown into 2+ backfills in a row. Just isn't worth it to have a subpar experience.

The only real tweak they need to make to this system is having diminishing penalty for leaving later in a match. If it is an 8v8 that turned into anything worse than a 6v8 you should be able to leave without penalty. Give me a loss and I will sacrifice any gained EXP, but that actually prevents me from sitting in a dead match until the timer runs out. This junk of it being a 1v4 and I magically get a ban even though I have been playing for my first week ever and never dropped is some BS.

On my side I'd say it's because the wait times are exceedingly long. Then when you get in a game I only leave if we're being spawn killed or the enemy team is just hiding in corners of the map and not willing to engage. Sometimes I'm waiting 10-15 minutes searching in all big team game modes and then I get in a game just to be spawn killed or not find anybody because they're cowering in corners away from any main portion of the map. I'd rather leave than play in that situation.

For me sometimes it says, "leaving matchmaking" and kicks me, and idk why, relaunching the game or doing some campaign fixes it for me. :MCCHELMET:

You can't just base a players skill off their rank that's retarded. Leaving the game before the first shots are fired basically ensures your team will lose because invasion needs 6v6. Who gives a ♥♥♥♥ about rank? It's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ number that says "Hey guys I play Halo more herp de derp" it's people like you that make me ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate playing Halo multiplayer. "Waaaaa I lost my rank, waaaa I had to carry the team." WHO ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ CARES AS LONG AS YOU'RE HAVING FUN WITH THE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ GAME?!?!?!??!?!?!??!?!??!?!?!?! But no I'm not allowed to have fun because ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like you wanna ♥♥♥♥♥ and cry about rank. I have only had games where half my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ team leaves ever since I started playing Halo MCC and it isn't fun, actually it's pissing me off because all I want to do is have a fighting chance in the game and have fun, not get stomped on because I'm fighting 6 dudes and they all are surrounding right where I spawn at every second. I bet you use the noob combo also, you sound like the type of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ who doesn't have enough skill to shoot straight and needs the extra ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ from the plasma pistol. Do everyone a favor and don't play Halo ever again you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ douche bag.

You really necro-ed this thread just to cuss me out?

Ironically, we have a lot more in common than you seem to realize. As you said yourself, you want a fighting chance, not to just get curb-stomped every game. That's exactly why I quit out early if all my teammates are so bad that they seriously can't cap the first objective or when another teammate of mine quits out. I'm also wanting to have fun and I can't when my team is basically requiring that I supervise both objectives all the time because they want to play the game like it's slayer. I don't just leave before the game even starts, I fight neck-and-neck with them on the front lines and if they're beyond underwhelming, then I move on to greener pastures, as the game is basically forfeit as it is.

Feel free to cuss me out if that makes you feel better. Given the nature of your post it seems like you're just needing to take your anger out on someone else. I just hope you can sort out whatever is really the underlying problem of this rage, cause being like that all the time isn't good for you, trust me.

Best of wishes for you, my man.
