Racing mode

I remember that mode on Halo CE but never saw a server playing it. It even worked?

They need to fix the controls for steering but this would be great, as would be the flying machines.

there are game types for races, yes. Reach had official game modes for it. and racetracks on forge are definitely a thing.

It's funny, there are already built in race maps for most of the levels in the Halo games. I played some races on my own and was shocked that even tiny indoor levels had flags and all, which would make for an interesting way to race. But for some reason, it doesn't appear that races are a game mode in matchmaking, which is a huge bummer.

Speaking of racing, the custom race maps for HCE and H2V were the best, ever heard of Yoyroast Island? Really unique design. Forge has nothing on custom BSPs (think of the BSP as the terrain). Slaters Fury made many excellent race maps for H2V, hopefully they can be ported at some point in the future and a server or two can run just race maps. Heck, we even created custom vehicles for racing, so the future is very bright once we get those mod tools.

One of my favorite things to do when we were all bored or regular slayer/ctf was using the H2 Gravity Hammer (my first custom weapon) on mp ports of Sandtrap and Outskirts to hit the warthog then jumping into the drivers seat just a split second later, this would send everyone inside the hog from one side of the level to the other, and in Halo 2 the driver's health controls the vehicles health so generally everyone would survive. Hammers in race mode or with brute shot/rox/splazer passengers would be epic.
