Anyone know if Halo Custom Edition mod tools will work on the MCC?
Playing custom maps and mods on halo custom edition was a big part of my childhood. Would love to know if the mod tools will work on the MCC

They will not. Custom Edition and Combat Evolved are two DIFFERENT games

Probably if the engines are still intact. Might be messy though, so don't expect existing ones to update for use for MCC version.

I expect modders though to make new ones that would encompass all of the games. Be a huge undertaking I'd wager though.

They use essentially the same engine though. Just that one is packaged for easier editing since it was built for that purpose, lol.

Shame, custom edition was amazing. Actual custom content is superior to forge maps

Assuming the maps for 2/3/Reach are in the same .MAP file format, Editing programs like Assembly, Adjutant, & Mr Mohawk should work just fine. That is, unless they drastically change something with the way the maps work. I doubt they will, but who knows, we'll just have to wait and see.

Problem is getting the maps to get read without resorting to replacers

That sounds like a multiplayer issue. I imagine campaign mods may work fine. Hopefully. Worst case scenario the MCC's built in anti-cheat program mistakes ALL modifications for 'cheats'. Best case scenario it has full Workshop support, but this is just wishful thinking, although it is already on Steam, so that may not be out of the question entirely.

Agreed. Although, assuming they don't completely overhaul the Halo 2 engine, don't expect to be able to add completely new custom content to that game in particular. Halo 2 is the most limited game (when it comes to mods) in the whole series, due to the development hell it went through. It can still be modded in its own way, though, just not on the same scale as CE, 3, or Reach.

In that case, here's to hoping that it all continues to go well. It seems 2019 is already shaping up to be a good year.
