ODST is best IMO
3's story is good too
multiplayer is boring tho, 3 shoots to kill and weapons fire way too slow, pistol took 5 shots to kill
no kill streak like cod
If Sci Fi FPS games are your thing, you cant go too wrong with Halo campaigns.
Most shooters have very shallow stories and unmemorable characters, Halo went against that "trend" and showed that you can make an FPS with a great multiplayer, and also have an interesting universe that makes players curious about the lore, and a single player mode that has proper pacing and keeps you wanting to do "just one more mission".
If you are only in it for the single player, great news, you won't feel like the game just tacked it on and you will definitely get your time worth
Halo 4 and beyond though... MMMMMMMMMM, different story.
I really enjoyed the Reach campaign and 1,2,3 are very good.
4&5 not so much, I would say these are the weaker of the stories.
EDIT: ODST very good also.
Music is some of the best, story is - at least in the original trilogy - not taking itself too seriously while not being too goofy, kind of like a Star Warsy space odyssey adventure.
How it's designed as a FPS is brilliant as well, with beefy weaponry, agile AI that still rivals some of the braindead choices of today, your setpieces are not just for show, but built as massive arenas like a chess board with pawns, knights and towers placed with intent in mind - like all your best fps games did with combat chess.
