Good single player games?
Are they good single player games with great campaigns or are they more for multiplayer?

dude its halo, it cant be bad!

ODST is best IMO

3's story is good too

multiplayer is boring tho, 3 shoots to kill and weapons fire way too slow, pistol took 5 shots to kill
no kill streak like cod

For me, amazing. Great story telling, characters, and world building. Awesome music, literally some of the best music in gaming. Graphics are still good enough imo.
If Sci Fi FPS games are your thing, you cant go too wrong with Halo campaigns.
The campaigns in Halo are some of the best single player experiences you will have in a shooter, especially the first 3, which are the only ones I've played. I have not played ODST or Reach so I can't speak for those game's campaigns.

Most shooters have very shallow stories and unmemorable characters, Halo went against that "trend" and showed that you can make an FPS with a great multiplayer, and also have an interesting universe that makes players curious about the lore, and a single player mode that has proper pacing and keeps you wanting to do "just one more mission".

If you are only in it for the single player, great news, you won't feel like the game just tacked it on and you will definitely get your time worth

I say the single player portion of the games is just as good as the multiplayer portion.

Halo 4 and beyond though... MMMMMMMMMM, different story.

I'm not really a big Halo fan but I've played Halo 1 and 2 campaign and they are quite good. That was like 10 years ago.

Very much yes, and some very memorable moments.

I really enjoyed the Reach campaign and 1,2,3 are very good.

4&5 not so much, I would say these are the weaker of the stories.

EDIT: ODST very good also.

Halo 1-3 told a pretty epic sci-fi story, ODST told a smaller more "intimate" story which i thought was really nice too. The higher difficulty levels made the enemies more agile, hardy and deadly making a really nice and non-artificial difficulty increase (not just bullet sponges). I played single player exclusively back in the day and these games were my time sink XD

Halo cmpaign is the best campaign I have ever played. I can't wait to play Halo again and again and again. I played Halo 1, 2, 3, 4 and reach. And they are AWSOME

I've mainly played the original trilogy, but the campaigns are overall very fun and excellently made.
Music is some of the best, story is - at least in the original trilogy - not taking itself too seriously while not being too goofy, kind of like a Star Warsy space odyssey adventure.

How it's designed as a FPS is brilliant as well, with beefy weaponry, agile AI that still rivals some of the braindead choices of today, your setpieces are not just for show, but built as massive arenas like a chess board with pawns, knights and towers placed with intent in mind - like all your best fps games did with combat chess.
