Does anyone still play Halo: Custom Edition?
I look forward to revisit it before MCC comes out. Alongside Halo 2: Project Cartographer and Eldewrito. Anyone else?

You can still find a serial key online. For free. Search for "Halo CE abandonware".

Yes. The player count has actually increased while people are waiting for MCC.

You're very welcome. Oh, and don't forget to download firefight mods while you're at it.

I haven't played since the Gamespy multiplayer still worked. How are you guys doing it now? Uh, I also can't find the disc anymore, but I still have my cd key lol. There a way I can install it?

All you need is the CD key since Halo Custom Edition is only available as an online download anyway. The latest patch 1.0.10 replace the Game Spy master server with a Bungie Employee's master server so online can be played without problems.

HaloCE3 website has all the files/installer you need here[HaloCE3.com]
Halomaps website has map files though none newer than March 2016[hce.halomaps.org]

Ah, so just like original Borderlands it has a new multiplayer system. Cool, thanks!

Been playing SPV3 for the first time last week, running through it a second time atm.

People probably wont like me saying this, But i think its superior to Halo CE.

No, I agree with you, it is superior to CE with the exception of it being aimed more to a hardcore/high difficulty audience. Masterz1337 & CMT have been working on single player mods/maps for the past 13 years. Bungie had to cut a lot of things out in order to get a 2001 release and they didn't have their full vision for Halo back then, you could not headshot (/shoot the parasite itself) infected Flood combat forms till Halo 3 (and infection forms couldn't infect other AI until Halo 3) and their engine was limited in 2001.

Headshot infected Flood? I never thought of this. I always thought that shooting their limbs was the preffered tactic. The same way you shoot at Necromorphs in Dead Space.

not really. most custom edition servers are hispanic in nature and running HPC tier mods. I went into a server with a friend of mine, said server was the only populated ones with a custom map rotation but the admins were petty ♥♥♥♥♥ and would TP ontop of you after you killed them and TP around the map.

Been playing Halo Refined, it's an Custom Edition Mod so it counts
Copperhead Apr 7, 2019 @ 11:40am
I've been playing a few mods on Custom Edition. I'm currently playing SPV3. As other players in this thread have stated, it's better than vanilla CE. I tend to agree because it adds so much to the story and makes everything flow together better and feel more real. I really like the addition of data log entries strewn about in little niches of each area. Be sure to actually read them, as they help prepare you for the enemies you will soon encounter.

G'day mate

There's still quite a few people who play :)
