Switching between old and new cutscenes
Can you do this in the Xbox One version? Switch between the old and new cutscenes seemlessly? I don't like the look of the newer cutscenes, they feel too flashy for me and clash with the look of the original games.

You are wrong, yes. :)

Both CE and H2 allowed for graphics switching at the push of a button.

^^ This, and what I found wrong was sometimes lighting was off in newer versions, older 1s seemed to fit indoor scenes a little better, specifically large cavernous rooms. Old versions served better with no detail, meaning you could not actually get a gauge of how deep the level went, it was a good way to trick the eye. Newer versions gave some distinct detail which killed that cavernous feel imo.

What is the mechanic behind it? There has to be quite a bit going on to instantly change the models and textures on a whim. Is classic and remastered treated as a preset of sorts that can be toggled ingame?

During cutscenes? I thought Halo 2 Anniversary had extended scenes? Damn it's been ages since I played.

Only for Halo 2, but not for CE.

Will we be able to switch between the original graphics with the PC release? I hope so.

Yes. After all, not many people like the switch from a swamp to a rainforest in 343 Guilty Sparks. Plus, switching between graphics is something that defines these Anniversary games.
