Original Graphics on Halo CE run at a terrible framerate
Posted this issue before, I still haven't got a fix. I've tried setting my GPU to "Maximum Power" under NVIDIA's control panel as someone once suggested, but this did nothing.

Remastered Graphics run smooth as butter but I'm really not a fan of them.

Sometimes the lag is so bad the game slows down, much like the xbox, which is funny.

Does anybody know how to resolve this? And please, do fix this if possible, porters.

Someone claimed he had also terrible low framerates when he used Windows 7, and it's gone when he use Windows 10.

I have 2 laptops, both using the latest Windows 10, not so updated NV drivers, and both perform great at classic graphic. (Even the one that use nvidia MX150, I can get 100+ fps)

Just tried running the classic graphics and I can say the framerate is far superior under those settings. Remastered is usually in the 100-200 fps range. Classic is in the 500-700fps range but the GPU is basically doing nothing. Your CPU is likely causing issues there as that's the limit for me.

Seems so from what I've read elsewhere. This needs some serious patching. My CPU can handle this just fine. It's an old i7 3820, sure, but there's no reason it can't.

Well there are about 6 threads which are heavily loaded up for me and that's on a Ryzen 9 3950X which is quite a lot faster than the i7 3820.

Still absolutely should not be an issue. I was able to run the original PC port flawlessly. So I'm sort of baffled, really.

4 cores/4 threads and it's not an issue for me. Then again i'm on AMD GPU, it's not a processor issue, it's something else entirely and seems to be randomized for some users.

Some older games or engines perform poorly the newer the GPUs, the prime example being AC black flag, it is unplayable on the gtx 1000 series and above. I think they forgot to optimize it properly.

Yeah I'm also using an AMD GPU so it could be a driver issue for you.

I've played through all AC games up to Origins on a 1060 with no issues, so, I dunno.

I'll try updating my GPU driver anyway and see where that goes.

Black flag is the only one that suffers from it. It's a well known issue, my friend with a 1080 was stuttering like hell on it.

AC3 is unplayable on any AMD GPU. Older API's have weird coding and it really depends on how the devs handle it, i'm pretty sure this game is dx11, which are generally notorious for weird issues on different configurations it's almost like a gamble and hard to narrow down.

Bit off topic here, but yeah, I never had a single issue with Black Flag on my 1060. That's pretty baffling.

It ran fine for some, and for some it didn't because the physx implementation from Nvidia was broken and it hit the 10 series the most. Bit off topic yeah, but a lot of people seem to be having this issue on the older graphics, I hope it gets fixed.

Update: Updating my graphics drivers improved the performance... marginally. There are still some framedrops in a lot of areas and it isn't the greatest. I guess there's nothing else I can really do but wait for it to be fixed.. if ever.

Is it stutter you're getting or just really low fps and in what part of the game?

No stutter, just lower frames. Sometimes it can go as low as 30-40. It happens whenever there is anything "intense" on screen, e.g. firefights, effects, or large areas.

i7 7700K, 16 gigs of ram & an EVGA 1080ti FTW3, I have absolutely zero problems. Running uncapped frame rate and no vsync

Yeah smooth as butter. I thought I'd test using the first save from the checkpoint I'm up to which looks like this:
