Possible to buy *only* "Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary"?
On the Internet[www.polygon.com] I read this information:

[Halo: Combat Evolved] is available as part of the Xbox Game Pass for PC, or purchasable as part of Master Chief Collection on the Microsoft Store and Steam for $39.99. If you only want Halo: CE Anniversary, you can buy that individually for $9.99.

However, if I select "Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary" in the Steam store, it says:
Downloadable Content
This content requires the base game Halo: The Master Chief Collection [39,99€] on Steam in order to play.

So, can I buy/play only "Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary" for $9.99, or not ???

Thanks.

You can. It will install the MCC* automatically with no additional costs.

*) Which basically is only the launcher for the games.
Thanks for the info! If you are correct (which I hope), then the Steam store page for this game is very confusing/misleading.

Yeah, it's been something that has popped up in threads since release. I'd wish they added a notification on the store page, but oh well.

They are absolutely correct. Any one of the games can be purchased piecemeal (as they become available); the MCC is just a launcher.

I see, now. But that was absolutely not clear to me from the info available at the store page.

The store page indicates that you need "Halo: The Master Chief Collection" base game in order to use the "Halo: Combat Evolved" DLC. And the former is shown with a price of 39,99€.

There is literally a pinned thread with the answer of this.

I think the OP's point is that the store page--which is all that the vast majority of any game's potential consumer base is likely to engage with--is unclear on this count.

On this one thing, I'm inclined to agree--they could've done a better job spelling out the piecemeal availability of the games on the store page.

On pretty much everything else (including "I paid for a COLLECTION--where muh gamez?!"), I think basic reading comprehension should save people from misunderstanding what's on offer/available.

I wont deny that. I remember the Sega Megadrive and genesis collection sells game in the store as if they were seperate but then once you buy them it puts them on the Sega launcher as one game. The DLC method of selling works too but causes confusion for the average consumer that doesnt usually read discussions.

Definitely correct. I only have CE. I didn't need to buy Reach or pay for anything else.

MCC = Main GUI/Menu to make games available, visible, accessible, etc.
You can say it is a kind of "DOSBox" or "ScummVM" to play the good old Halo games.
And you only need to have the old games (which are purchasable in store)
The "Emulator" is for free in every title included!

So does this still need 128 GB or is it just 20 GB?

You shouldnt necro a dead thread from 3 years ago... and to answer your question, you dont need 128gb if you only install one game here in steam, so its just 20gb for one game. The 128gb is only if you download the gamepass version of the game on the microsoft store.

No problem. Simply buy the halo ce dlc and you should be good to go without needing the mcc.
