they ruined the original halo remakes campaign.
ive been playing halo on pc since 2001 and i can honestly say in this "anniversary edition" they have made some major changes to overall gameplay that effects difficulty. for start, they severely NERFED the assault rifle. that machine gun is trash, absolute trash. in fact every opportunity i get im dropping it for plasma pistol of all things. im sitting here playing the game on legendary and i know for a fact it was never this hard ive played and beat this game countless dozen times on legendary. it shouldnt take 2-3 hours to complete 1 level but the only gun even worth a crap is the pistol and i dont know whos idea it was to make elites shields recharge but they screwed up the game. its impossible to advance without the pistols and a good supply of ammo so i am done playing legendary until they fix these mistakes. it is impossible to advance through the campaign solo on legendary from where i sit or it would take an immeasurable amount of time to sit there and figure out the best strategy after dying 1000 times to figure out what rock to hide behind. so stupid. im not gonna spend 100 hours mastering a game thats 20 years old almost with no incentive. its not even fun when you make the difficulty impossible without dedicating your life to it. i can guarentee you one thing, original halo on xbox and PC was never this difficult on legendary and the reason is because they severely nerfed the assault rifle and gave the elites way more health than normal and im pretty positive their shields recharge aswell.

so you can sit there and laugh or talk trash and say im just bad but i know how good i am and i know i have beaten this game on this difficulty many times and i can tell the difference right away. im sure im not the only one to notice this as im pretty sure a ton of other people will agree with me. they made it so unfair its almost like a cruel joke. they made it practically unplayable and thats not cool or fun at all.

Assalt Rifle is not nerfed at all - in fact, it was trash on Halo: Combat Evolved PC version already. It was nerfed from XBOX Halo CE, though.

Oh they definitely made it harder alright. Doesn't help the enemy doesn't have to cool their plasma pistols ever so they just go full auto with it and you drop in 2-4 seconds of sustained fire. Add that to their perfect aim and good luck leaving cover. I honestly don't see why changes like these needed to be made. The og legendary difficulty was already challenging enough there was no need to make it require you give up having a life outside of a the game just get past a single level.

Kinda agree, I've been playing halo 1 since release and my god legend isn't fun at all, more so when they all target you on the spot. On AOTCR soon as I open the door leading to the marines fighting I was already auto target by a banshee, hid behind a rock it turned away on the spot and went for the marines, moved away from the rock and it turns right back around homing on me. That was seriously annoying. (I like how the banshee and wraith follows you to the next area if you don't take them out as well, that was fun...) Another one was on TB when the cobby's were fighting the flood on the bridge, soon as one cobby saw me ALL of them ignored the flood and went right for me. I've been pinned and reloaded way too many times to count.

This is why i'm waiting for modders to bring back halo map tools cause this isn't fun, it's annoying.

Pretty much on all the levels i've been having an annoying time tbh.

I think a lot of the weapon problems people are experiencing have to do with the framerate. Even locking at 60fps would wreck this a bit since the original Xbox game ran at 30fps. I've seen one Reddit thread about how the Pistol loses accuracy faster with unlocked framerate.

I hope 343 fixes this, but the band-aid would be to lock your framerate to 60.

EDIT: About the AI: the AI in Reach is also a lot more aggressive in this version, so it does seem like some sort of blanket oversight by 343, and once again could be as simple as the change in framerate (i.e. a change in how often things are calculated and changed in the game).

i read somewhere that its harder on the remastered, basically legendary is an ultra legendary mode. lol i cant confirm but what you are saying fits what i read. heroic didnt seem that hard tho.

I've been playing Halo CE on legendary solo.

It was never this difficult before. Like super frustrating now I don't understand.

Playing it on the 360, it was definitely NOT this hard.

In the end I don't really mind that though. Gonna make it that much more satisfying.

Didnt happened to us, in fact sometimes they just wait for us to be seen, having a blast so far in Legen nonetheless, despite some weird AI farts that makes "easier" to prepare a fight

I'm not saying it's harder or easier, but could it be since you've not played it in a while and just need to get things put back into muscle memory?

Other then the fact I use a controller on xobx(yes, still have one lol) And poorer graphics and odd sound issues for PC, seems about the same so far.

I already beat original Halo on legendary.. if they made it harder than it was, then i'll be even more satisfied when i finish it now on legendary. Anyone who plays on legendary difficulty is seeking a challenge... maybe you should rise to it and finish the fight.

Its not that hard, and even if it was any harder, that's actually better for me since I enjoy a good game of COOP with my mates. ;)

Besides, its less difficult than Halo 2 Legendary objectively, so quit your whining. That game is a real turd to complete, even on Project Cartographer.

Playing on PC since 2001, so you never played the original game only the broken Gearbox port and it sounds like this is your first time playing legendary because that's the way it was, the Dark Souls mode of FPS games.

i mean it is what it is. i know the original halo game for pc and original xbox (not the remake on 360 or xbox one or whatever,) was never this difficult. i just wanted to confirm if i was the only one who felt this way so i feel pretty validated knowing im not the only one that noticed this.

while i would love to play through this game again on this difficulty i just dont have the time to dedicate and i would imagine its a substantial amount of time, to fully strategize and i dont have enough friends to ideally play through it on co-op mode if co-op even works.

pretty much just boils down to not having the time to dedicate getting use to all these changes they have made. the way it is would probably take me a solid 2-3 days worth of playing to beat on this difficulty dedicated to it and i just dont care to put that much time into something with no reward or satisfaction since ive beaten it countless times already on this difficulty on other formats in the previous original versions.
