What resolution is your monitor and what is your current desktop resolution?
I will say I have no problem getting the resolution I want on my TV (second display). For whatever reason it just wont' use my 1440p monitor's native resolution.
It's not a cable problem if every other game works. It's either a 343 or Nvidia problem.
Since I dont have a Nvidia problem like this in any other game...well.
This was a problem during the "flights" before release.
On top of that borderless will just give me 1080p unless I force 3840x2160 in the .ini file.
As far as I'm concerned the 343-team have no clue what they're doing. This port sucks.
If this is going to continue with the rest of the parts of MCC I will refund it.
Apparently this problem isn't even that rare. I posted on the official forums and several people there have the same issue. And like you said, they had it since the "flights" or betas or w/e.
Blame MS not the game devs. Its about stability overall in the OS. Hard coded full screen can break things and if the app crashes can leave a computer unrecoverable. Borderless offers 99% of the performance on modern systems with allot less risk to stability.
If borderless works use it. The problems you are having are likely an example of why fullscreen is dying.
As a side note though, both borderless and full screen work on both my rigs. 4k on main with Vega 64 and 1440p on secondary with gtx960 4gb.
I hate when people pull stuff like this out of their asses because literally one poorly optimized game they like is a certain way.
I an not pulling anything out of my ass.
I agree fullscreen *was* the standard, and it does work fine in most games.
That said since windows 10 MS has pushed devs to reduce hard-controll in apps of all kinds. This has happened to audio first, and nwo to video.
MS doesnt care about gamers as much as they care about the OS working.
If a fullscreen app has the *chance* to lock the system, when the same app running borderless would not, guess which one MS wants the user to have as the *default* setting, and guess which one they would recomend you use.
There is a reason why *every* modern title ships with borderless now, and a reason why *most* ship with borderless by default, and its not for multi-screen users.
Borderless is the new norm, and is the more stable option. Period. Fullscreen is great, but its old and out-dated when newer options that are just as good performance wise but better stability and compatibility wise exist. The problems you are having *with* fullscreen are part of why devs are moving away from it. Something *with your system* is preventing it from working right. <<Thats<< Why devs would preffer you use the better option.
