Game won't accept my resolution of 1440p
No matter what I do I can't set the game to fullscreen at 2560 x 1440. When I set it to fullscreen it forces it back to 1080p. The only way to get actual 1440p is boarderless or windowed - which I don't want. When I close the game and start it back up it automatically starts in borderless no matter what i choose. In my config file it says it's in 1440p despite it not actually being 1440 in game.

I see that when you select fullscreen it grays out the option of selecting the aspect ratio - i think this has something to do with it. I've seen several threads of people with this problem but not one of them had a solution.

Anyone know how to fix this? Because I've spent 30+ minutes today trying to fix this. Even going into Nvidia control panel and disabling resolution scaling. I'm nearly past my 2 hour refund window because of this. I'm about to just issue a refund and be done with this crap. It's so frustrating that something as simple as resolution isn't working.

Anyone?

I have a 1080p monitor. Send me your monitor so I can test it out for you to see if it works on my system

Man, I'm so torn. This sucks. I don't know if I should refund or not. Granted, I've got an 8700k and GTX1070Ti so running borderless doesn't really seem to cause any performance degradation but still. It bothers me that I can't do something that should be standard.

What resolution is your monitor and what is your current desktop resolution?

2560 x 1440 is my monitor resolution. I've never had an issue like this in any other game. It just refuses to accept it and keeps putting me at 2560 X 1080 in the game settings unless I do borderless or windowed. I even tried messing with nvidia control panel's resolution and turning off scaling, forcing it to perform the scaling on GPU/Display, selecting override scaling mode set by games, etc. nothing is working.

Have you tried a different type of video cable? Like if you use HDMI try DP or vice versa

Nah, I haven't tried that. And honestly I don't want to. I use a display port and my HDMI cables aren't long enough to reach my PC from my monitor meaning I'd have to buy a new HDMI when I've got a perfectly good DP. And going through all that isn't something I should have to do for a game made by one of the biggest companies in the world in 2019 =/

I will say I have no problem getting the resolution I want on my TV (second display). For whatever reason it just wont' use my 1440p monitor's native resolution.

I have the same problem in fullscreen at 4K. The game puts me in 3840x1080 no matter what I do, and how I try to edit the gameusersettings file.
It's not a cable problem if every other game works. It's either a 343 or Nvidia problem.
Since I dont have a Nvidia problem like this in any other game...well.
This was a problem during the "flights" before release.

On top of that borderless will just give me 1080p unless I force 3840x2160 in the .ini file.
As far as I'm concerned the 343-team have no clue what they're doing. This port sucks.
If this is going to continue with the rest of the parts of MCC I will refund it.

Yeah, truth be told this issue, combined with the horrendous audio and other bugs really shows how crappy this port is. Everyone is just giving it a free pass because we've finally got Halo on the PC. Really sucks we have to put up with this.

Apparently this problem isn't even that rare. I posted on the official forums and several people there have the same issue. And like you said, they had it since the "flights" or betas or w/e.

I also can not get beyond 1080p. My monitor is 2560 x1440 and it will not go higher than 2560x1080. It would not be so bad if it would letter box it but instead it distorts the screen. Has this been reported as a bug?

Yeah, this port is absolute trash. They abandoned it the second the threw it on the store. I absolutely regret buying this. I've literally never played a PC game before that ♥♥♥♥♥ resolution up like this.

Borderless is the new standard. Thats why many games ship with it on by default.

Blame MS not the game devs. Its about stability overall in the OS. Hard coded full screen can break things and if the app crashes can leave a computer unrecoverable. Borderless offers 99% of the performance on modern systems with allot less risk to stability.

If borderless works use it. The problems you are having are likely an example of why fullscreen is dying.

As a side note though, both borderless and full screen work on both my rigs. 4k on main with Vega 64 and 1440p on secondary with gtx960 4gb.

Except it's not the new standard. I have literally never played any old nor modern game that didn't work in fullscreen just fine.

I hate when people pull stuff like this out of their asses because literally one poorly optimized game they like is a certain way.

I an not pulling anything out of my ass.

I agree fullscreen *was* the standard, and it does work fine in most games.

That said since windows 10 MS has pushed devs to reduce hard-controll in apps of all kinds. This has happened to audio first, and nwo to video.

MS doesnt care about gamers as much as they care about the OS working.

If a fullscreen app has the *chance* to lock the system, when the same app running borderless would not, guess which one MS wants the user to have as the *default* setting, and guess which one they would recomend you use.

There is a reason why *every* modern title ships with borderless now, and a reason why *most* ship with borderless by default, and its not for multi-screen users.

Borderless is the new norm, and is the more stable option. Period. Fullscreen is great, but its old and out-dated when newer options that are just as good performance wise but better stability and compatibility wise exist. The problems you are having *with* fullscreen are part of why devs are moving away from it. Something *with your system* is preventing it from working right. <<Thats<< Why devs would preffer you use the better option.
