The Brutes have been in the Covenant for a long time. It's just that they are selected as the *new* elites after the old/current Elites failed--! Right?
What happened after the first game is that they replaced the Elites as the Prophets' favored warriors. They were part of the Covenant before, just with lower standing
Or most fleets I guess? Think I read somewhere brutes were very rarely deployed into combat
So in other words, Reach is such a large scale conflict that even the Covenant's lowest tier of support troop were called up. Halo was a small scale conflict where an elite Elite unit was sent after a fleeing high value target. The main battle of Reach was still ongoing, so most of the Covenant forces were needed there.
When Halo 1 was taking place, Reach had still been in conflict with the covenant?
Also, was Reach actually glassed or w.e? The epilogue scene shows Noble 6s helmet in the dirt where it was last seen, but the surrounding area seemed lush with greenery, and the narrator was mentioning how the Noble team's mission secured humanity a chance for survival. What exactly happened to Reach?
And was that epilogue scene a scene from the future, immediately after the events of Halo 3?
