This is probably the best solution for anything competitive in the multiplayer portion of the game.
They literally have bullet magnetism by default on mouse and keyboard.
The only thing it would give to mouse is the reticle float/attachment which honestly would be annoying as hell on a mouse because it would fight against your natural movements.
Player Magnetism is specific to controller, and to be frank, it'd be akin to the inverse of Mouse Acceleration everytime your reticle turned red over someone.
KB/M players DO have bullet magnetism.
It's the aim assist they haven't got.
It's essentially hit scan with an added margin of error to correct for network issues, if your shot is "close enough" it will hit. This happens regardless of controller or mouse + KB. This is the part that is bullet magnetism.
What controller has, to help with the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ analog system, is the reticle attaching to the enemy player slightly. You still have to aim well, and honestly in a lot of cases the reticle attachment is a detriment if another enemy runs in front of you during a fight. Your aim will attach to the front one and ruin your ability to shoot past him unless you're experienced enough to counter it ahead of time.
Indeed, I mean all of this is just what makes Halo, well, Halo really.
I don't feel like I have an advantage at all when I tried using controller, but I could still compete.
I think that's what angers people imo, before the game launched I had seen various people bragging about how they were going to "wreck" controller players.. I think they're just not happy now they realised controller users stand a fighting chance.
The aim assist is still less accurate than mouse + KB.
It's more that people need time to get used to the wonky physics of Halo compared to other games, how strafing especially on keyboard feels delayed and floaty when you switch directions rather than being 1:1 on key pressing like other shooters.
Even as a returning Reach player and someone who has played using kb/m on shooters for many years now, it did feel a little off but soon got use to it.
Even using my kb/m when playing things like campaing, it just feels so much better to me. But controller users stand a fighting chance in MP, they don't have an unfair advantage it's just they can bite back and some people don't like that.
